Effectiveness viral vs. paralysis
Is there any scenario beside a Scylla where it would make sense to use viral damage instead of paralysis? I found the latter (esp. with the Sniper rifles) to be way more effective, even on Chirons. And if they are out with paralysis, they are out for good (maybe need an refresh every 15 turns, so in a normal battle, like once), you don't need to kill them and can reap the benefits afterwards of having them captured.

While with viral, I understand it takes enemy units out of the game in 2 out of 3 turns, but I'd still have to kill them.

Paralysis just seems to be much more effective (all my snipers carry a normal and a paralysis sniper rifle with them).

Having lots of Priests is the only situation where viral is preferable. It will make using their special skills easier.

I see your point. So viral would not be standing on its own (unlike paralysis), but be more a facilitator to be using priest skills. Makes sense to me.

1000% Correct! Viral is pretty useless without at least 2 Priests on the Team in Combat. 👍👍💖✨🤴🤠

Viral doesn't end missions. It is a debuff that makes them lose 2 out of every 3 turns (1 out of 2 if they have panic resist). Paralysis deletes AP and 100% paralysis is treated as a mission ending kill.
Effectiveness of virus increases as battle goes on. After several losses the enemy becomes low on morale, so you can make him skip a turn or 2 just in 1 shot with a viral weapon. It's especially good versus Sirens and tough Arthrons. You can also combine virus with damage over time effects, like poison or acid. It is usually enough for enemy to skip just 1 turn for DoT to kill him.

However I like paralysis more. It is more reliable, lets you disable enemies completely and gives you resourses for mutation.
