second best way to cheese, berserk break armor now replace 30 shred for ALL weapons, yes that is right flamer will now shred 30 to all scylla parts, or worst yet is the agile grenades launcher if your berserk has 12 will and trooper perk he can strip 90 armor in 1 turn. because ammo in weapons slot is free reload
Rebuke works best because of it's 30 shred, large damage and free ammo.
Otherwise mounted launchers and Vidars are good option because of their 1AP firing cost, though keep in mind that ammo for shredding mounted launchers is very expensive. Vidars are much more budget friendly, but have only 10 shred and are single shot (Vidar is an Assault's weapon, so with ready for action AP cost of reloading is a non-issue, but lack of magazine severely limits how many shots you can carry).
Goliath is another option for Phoenix Project on a budget, relatively weak (power similar to Vidar but base cost of 3AP, subject to boomblast reduction... now I wonder if Heavy/Assault can fire Vidar for free?), pretty much weakest of workable solutions, but better than nothing.
After that, you just need to do a lot of damage.
I find it, that Deceptor MG can consistently hit abdomen at medium range.
Similarily shotguns: Scylla is a huge target, if you shred enough of it's armour, you can use Shotguns even from medium range.
If you have ancient weapons, then obviously Shardgun is the best shotgun for the job and Scorpion is the best sniper rifle for the job.
While abdomen is easiest to hit and thus easiest to strip of armour and pup full of lead, you might want to consider focusing other body parts. Scyllas with Agile legs can leap long distances and then follow up with devastating melee attack. You might consider focusing their smashers (melee weapons) because of that. Soldiers with more than 30 on every body part won't get poisoned by scylla's goo, they will get immobilised, but won't get poisoned.
Due to scylla's massive HP pool, I'd recommend using multiclass infiltrators. Assault/Infiltrator can do up to 750 damage with single Shardgun shot or 360 with Deimos burst and by abusing Vanish it is possible to slightly relocate and retain APs for 2 shots (if you add vengenance torso, rapid clearance skill and dash around with melee weapon it can get truly crazy). Infiltrator/Sniper with Scorpion does 360 damage per shot. I haven't tried Heavy/Infiltrator but I imagine that Vanish+close range Deceptor Rage Burst should be devastating.
There's another cheeky tactic. Though, It's a bit of a gimmick and of limited utility, but you might consider it: biochemist. Biochemist does one virus per hit. Shotguns and Deceptors make a lot of hits quickly. Depending on range, Heavy biochemist with Deceptor can do 15 to 30 viral damage with Rage Burst. Similarily, one full shardgun hit from biochemist is 15 virus. Two biochemists can quickly throw Scylla into panic chain. Those supposedly used to be more useful, but it still means that Scylla will be able to act offensively only on 1 out of 3 rounds.
First turn scylla panics, second it uses recover, third it acts. At least that's how I remember trying to use this method.
player turn, scylla panic, player turn, scylla recover, player turn scylla act. Which means you have 3 turns to do your thing.
scylla at its current state been over buffed, even the basic form of scylla can just leap accoss half the map and one hit KO one of your team. so if you don't either kill it or hard cc it in turn 1 you are gambling on how dumb the AI are.
war cry is handy but you have to measure scylla movement very well because it can still 1 action move 1 action attack and kill the heavy and some of the range variant can still just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ you up if you that close.
Next up, armour shredding weapons, like the Deceptor MG to open up the abdomen for a big target and to disable the mindfragger spawning.
Equally, virus weapons, paralysis weapons, anything which reduces the will and ability of it to do stuff.
Deceptor MG on a + biochemist heavy, or shotgun on biochemist are good ways to rack up virus.
I shoot her in her head with my 2 Snipers. Or i come close to her with my minigun and i break her head. i play Heros difficulty, dunno for Legend. And Biochemist help a lot to rupt her :D
Killed it with turrets and spider drones while my team was safely away. Took out the legs 1st so it couldn't jump. It just kept using "goo" on the turrets which don't move and could still shoot.
So it was 4 turrets shooting a turn plus 4 remote control sessions a turn. The thing is so big the turrets dont miss even from far. I would recover Will whenever I ran out of it. Eventually I was able to get the rest of team on roofs who had long range weapons. But didn't get many shots off.
I only have the default turrets but they wrecked it. And since its automatic or remote you can have your entire team safely out of the way. I'm not sure if it can't see the tea because it's far away or if it cant melee the turrets. Or what the deal is. But the turrets didn't even get attacked except from goo. Maybe because it couldn't jump?
Probably not the fastest way. But was damn safe and easy.
