There needs to be a few more years of cooldown, and then "maybe" a new game in a similar vein can happen.
It would need to be something fresh in the genre though, not just refining one aspect and streamlining another.
Snapshot Games have announced their next project on social media and in a newsletter, and its a colorful, cartoony, real-time action game.

Yes it looks like an April joke, but no it isn't.
Woke doesn't mean what you think it means.
while x com especially long war made the player feel like god. In x com long war the enemy is pure stats stick, with ability to end your mission in one turn, and they are numerous, that is why you can be a god in x com. But in phoenix point, the enemy at the end of the day is not very treating, yes even the blast artery is not going to kill you in one turn. so the player have to be Nerfed, and that is not fun.
How unfortunate
Lol ah yes....The tried and tested hard pivot to colourful puke in the Fortnite stylings, the final destination of so many studios who want to go bankrupt.
PP2 is never going to happen, they burned all their good will by taking the Epic deal, which in retrospec, probably happened because they knew their game wasn't up to snuff. They had some neat concepts, some good ideas, but beyond that it was a very mismanaged project.
Xenonauts 2 is probably your best hope for a good Xcom style game in the near future
Xenonaunts 2 is based upon the very original X-Com from the 90s so not really comparable to the modern New-Com games.
