Yes it looks like an April joke, but no it isn't.

Same. I've been reading this series called Land&Sea and reminds me of Phoenix Point and XCOM. It's a nice fix while we wait or hope for something new from those two excellent IP's.

I'm waiting too.

Is there an anouncement for it somewhere?

They have basically come out and said there are no plans for PP2... The underlying reason seems to be the first game wasn't successful to the point that they would risk a second game. Unfortunately for what it does well, it always suffers from the "X-Com does it better" curse. (we'll ignore the bad publicity from releasing it on Epic store etc)

Phoenix Point 2 would be pointless, there's too much bad baggage attached.
There needs to be a few more years of cooldown, and then "maybe" a new game in a similar vein can happen.

It would need to be something fresh in the genre though, not just refining one aspect and streamlining another.

oh god, they decided to go woke
They decided to target a much younger audience.

Woke doesn't mean what you think it means.

mobile gamers are not real gamers

Eh, it's not woke. It seems to be targeting younger audience indeed, gives me Orcs Must Die vibes of sorts. Hope they'll earn enough from this and maybe will make PP 2 one day.

i think it is unfortunate that phoenix point didn't become as popular as x com, when i play phoenix point i couldn't help but feel bad the game is holding the player back, all the great things the player liked about the game, no action point dashes, and continues fire though walls, was taken out of the game. it really takes the fun out of the game.

while x com especially long war made the player feel like god. In x com long war the enemy is pure stats stick, with ability to end your mission in one turn, and they are numerous, that is why you can be a god in x com. But in phoenix point, the enemy at the end of the day is not very treating, yes even the blast artery is not going to kill you in one turn. so the player have to be Nerfed, and that is not fun.

Lol ah yes....The tried and tested hard pivot to colourful puke in the Fortnite stylings, the final destination of so many studios who want to go bankrupt.

PP2 is never going to happen, they burned all their good will by taking the Epic deal, which in retrospec, probably happened because they knew their game wasn't up to snuff. They had some neat concepts, some good ideas, but beyond that it was a very mismanaged project.

Xenonauts 2 is probably your best hope for a good Xcom style game in the near future

Xenonaunts 2 looks like a mobile game made in 2010, I'd rather have no Xcom than this.

Xenonaunts 2 is based upon the very original X-Com from the 90s so not really comparable to the modern New-Com games.
