2 or 3 of them
shoot in head
No Mind contro
Think of it, in two games I don't remember a single instance where I was mind controlled by one of them.
This is not true. I got to a mission on multiple runs where I had to make my way across a canyon zone. The enemies never stopped spawning and every time I killed a siren, another one would spawn. Then they would move almost all the way across the whole map and mind-control my entire team in one move making them attack and kill each other.
I tried the campaign 3 times and every time I got to this mission, it ended the same way. I tried different tactics - snipers, ambush, etc... I could never win. The sirens were too much.
As someone who also struggled with this game, especially on the first run, I'd say the Sirens aren't so bad. They're definitely brutal, especially if you mess up, but they're an elite unit, so they kind of have to be that, you know?
The thing about this game is that some of the maps/missions have a seemingly very random way of generating enemies, which produces very different results. Sometimes it's manageable, other times you'll see 2-3 sirens on the first turn, and you just feel like nuking the entire map from orbit.
My own record in this regard is a map where I was struggling with an Acheron, after having already dealt with a siren as well....and just as I'm about to kill the Acheron, TWO more pop up as reinforcement. I was literally yelling at the screen: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DIE ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But most missions are not insane like that fortunately...
Sirens are a tad more problematic and definitely need to be focused down when you spot one. But that's easily managed.
Missions in which you actually need to kill all Pandorans on the map explicitly tell you so. And unless scripted in a particular mission, they usually don't respawn either in such a mission.
General: Sniper shots to the head. No head no mind control.
Shotgun blasts to the head, (might want to soften the target up with grenades first)
New Jericho: Their armadillo vehicle can reliably take on a siren 1v1 (Vehicle too tanky. Galting gun to the face ends a siren very quickly. Vehicles are immune to mind control.)
Fire grenades is an extremely effective method of breaking limbs, especially if you can shred some armor off first.
Synedrion: 3 infiltrator spider mines is enough to break the limbs (and head) on a siren. 3 spider mines can be deployed in a single turn with a single mid level infiltrator.
A siren won't win against a synedrion Aspida vehicle.
Anu: Sirens need willpower to maintain mind control. Priest weapons can quickly sap willpower.
Some might say the above is cheese tactics. I say embrace the cheese, humanity is at stake there is no time to play fair.
That's all fine and good, except on the map I am talking about, they constantly spawn and are hidden in the shadows where you can't see them until they come out and mind control you.
Could be, and that would be good to hear. Also, I never heard of the infiltrator spider drones, so that must be something new as well. All why I asked about the status of the game. I stopped playing about a month or two after it was released. I'll give it another shot.
