Overwatch seems really broken
While I appreciate I can set the distance in overwatch
Overwatch doesn't seem to work when dealing with doors or jumpable objects

So far 100% of the time when I put overwatch on door, the enemy opens door, walks through door, and my guy happily waves hello and offers him a cup of tea and biscuts instead of shooting the enemy.

* To be clear this is a closed door that gets opened, not an open door that has sight lines.

Same thing happens with a jump from a window on 2nd floor. I put Overwatch on ground below window, enemy jumps through window says hello offers my guy lead and my guy happily accepts without shooting back.

Yeah... Same experience here. After multiple playthroughs i just don't even consider it a mechanic unless my sniper has nothing better to do.
The area setup makes it unreliable as enemies can just walk around it, then it can also fail to trigger when they do enter it, and then if they DO trigger it - you soldier just unloads a mag into a random trash can and calls it a day.

Perhaps the single most underwhelming and unreliable mechanic in the entire game. I got burned by it so many times - i'd rather have my soldier do literally anything else than try overwatching.

There is nothing particular about enemies walking into an OW cone after opening a door, or jumping from a higher floor.

Sometimes OW does fail for no reason, but usually it's because the shooter doesn't pass the perception check modified by the stealth value of the target.

I have been with the game since early betas through epic exclusive to now. It was always buggy and kind of unfinished, while team kept loading more content without fixing most serious bugs. Did not listen to community at all. Seems XCom auithors name has been used for promo purposes as he never appeared to comment the game since early promos.
Its Bulgarian team that seems laisy (nothing against Bulgarians per se), so sad since some of the game settings and mechanics has potential for great Xcom and Civ crossover.
In the end, it seems game is saved by users (as happens with Duke Foerever leak or Alien Colonial Marines :DDD with this Void user heavy mod

Wouldnt it fix the problem if you place overwatch end distance slightly behind the door? I assume most just put it as far as possible so it covers the door + a lot of distance... have you tried to put it slightly behind the door?

Yes - the issue is not when the door is open but when its closed.
I am guessing the door triggers the overwatch and doesn't count the move outside through the door.

I have tested this several times, doors have no impact on OW. A door opening can't trigger OW, only eligible actors stepping into the cone can trigger it.
