They used to be a nightmare of geometry in the first days of release - there were parts that you soldiers could enter but couldn't leave and would get softlocked in an environment. There was MUCH less of that later on after a couple of patches.
The key is to delay doing "the gift" mission to delay the activation of the DLC As much as possible: it gives you a head start AND you can cheese the mission with a vehicle.
I believe you have to have all the DLC enabled to run the Terror/Void mod. If I could do it again, I would start without the mod just to avoid the horrible Festering DLC.
The game is fun to replay...
Whats so bad about festering skies other than lame air/air combat? or is that it? are people struggling cos they cant manufacture weapons in time?
If BigMan spawns on the other side of the planet during 2nd coming (which he loves to do) - there's literally nothing people can do and it drains them emotionally that they feel like they're losing without a fighting chance. Just very bad feedback all around.
Anyway i feel air combat was rare enough to not be nearly as annoying as me being forced to micro every damn plane every 3 seconds.
Not to mention that it's just rude to make Synedrion wait and not take their invitation. Something-something Ludo Dissonance.
Indeed - the DLC becomes far more manageable if you post pone its' activation as you can secure a lot more resources and ground in that time, but it just doesn't cross people mind on first attempt and so their early introduction to Big Man become miserable. They can barely manage their bases and soldier gear, now they have to invest into planes too? Rough.
