2) Vehicles, by default, take 3 soldier slots on an aircraft. So Manticore can carry around 3 soldiers + vehicle.
You can, however, send multiple aircrafts to the same mission and deploy a combined force from both of them.
3) You can swap units around at any base by clicking the yellow icon on the right of unit's card. Phoenix Emblem means the unit is currently stationed at base and the respective aircraft icon means the unit is assigned to an aircraft.
4) Most missions allow 8 units to be deployed, or 5 soldiers and 1 vehicle.
Some particular, special high-stakes missions allow 9, or 6+1.

It would be nice if soldiers were represented on the global map to make this more clear.
