I quit the playthrough when I realized what was happening. ♥♥♥♥ that. I have no idea how are you supposed to take them out without hit'n'run.
And get bad it did.
First of of all those soldiers' starting stats. Blergh.
Then the scyllas appeared faster than i could ever imagine and immediately proceeded to f*ck with my B-team who basically stood no chance. I had to save scum like mad just to have even a chance of succesfully completing that BS haven defense.
I didn't even had Jericho's MG, it was 3 heavies with f*cking HEL-2 cannons, because i had nobody else (thank lord for the promo stuff).
And then the abbadons came. They literally cannot be defeated in a single engagement - hit'n'run was the only viable solution against them (either that or losing planes in suicide missions).
And at first it was like - okay, their weapon regenerates slowly, i can live with a couple of extra potshots to win... BUT THEN THE ALREADY BROKEN EYE CANNON REGENERATED BACK INTO OPERATIONAL STATE.
At that point i realized that Legendary was not intended to provide fun. It was there to do anything but that. So i quit and restarted with a normal campaign to get a couple of extra achievements i wanted.
Maybe i'll try it one day without any DLCs but Kaos engines, but dear lord the weak-ass soldiers make me cringe.
Hell, maybe one day i'll make the SP-changing mod myself at this point as that's literally the only thing that i hate about Legend.
The eye cannon is the main problem. Pretty much the only one. So if we deal with that - we deal with abbadons.
Hit'n'run is only good enough to disabling it partially...
So we need to at best get it a point where the next plane can disable it in 1 shot and then proceed shooting the rest and hoping you can handle the other 4 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ guns. And you'll probably get shot by the eye once too, for a good measure.
If these tactics won't work... Then it literally means that you just have to ignore them on legend until you unlock the module that allows you to dodge the eye and then you just aim straight for the ship's Hull ignoring the guns and pray you can kill it faster than you run out of dodge charges.
There is a reason Festering Skies has mostly negative reviews...
Did you play/beat Legendary with Festering Skies?
Its not like the battles when with good tactics you can make wonders with bunch of rookies...
