Diplomacy missions are actually good, you can juggle between factions by doing their mission and the relationship mostly balance out.
You lose a bit overall, till their relationship degrades and you get more relationship from attacking their enemies, but the gains in experience, ressources and "bumps" that you get techs and special diplo missions are worth it.
Thanks, i foolishly clicked accept in the earlier stage, is it the same or in this case i have to do it?
Reasons to do them: they pay nicely and you get extra relationship with the contractor.
Reasons to not do them: more ways to lose your soldiers, negative relationships with the victim, morals.
I believe it used to be that you could abuse this system and just sabotage everyone for everyone forever and gain lots of standing that way. Maybe got nerfed, don't know.
Inherent problems: this will escalate factions' radicalisation and speed up the inevitable Faction War. They will eventually get there all by themselves - but being harassed by PP on someone else's orders will accelerate the process and all the additional missions will add another like 10-20 hours to your already bloated playthrough time.
Honestly i never touched any of these missions except for achievements. All my playthroughs are always pacifist-style and i gain my standing with them by just doing my job - kicking pandorans in the ass whenever they show up.
I dont want the game to stop attacking havens (hence no defence missions), or be blocked until i do them.
I guess if no one knows for sure i'll just do these sabotage missions once and never accept anymore.
The funny thing is that you can hit faction havens all by your own. These hit-requrests are just extra reason to do it.
You COULD steal a plane by yourself.
OR you could take a request from someone to steal a plane that you already intended to steal. So now you get both a plane AND a hefty compensation from the contractor.
... The victim will not be happy though.
Would be nice if someone could test it and report the evidence (preferably with screenshots / video).
Btw how long did your first playtrough take? i'm not trying to rush it but it feels like it will take 60+ hours just for one playtrough...
According to my Review - my first blind playthrough (no restarts) took me 130 hours.
As in: that's what the Steam was showing me when i was done.
To be fair: I'm quite infamous for being an AFK lad, so you can easily scratch like 30 hours off for just wasting time, which leaves us with ~100 hours.
And it was probably a perfectionist playthrough - gotta explore everything, finish every research and mission, yadi yada, which delayed the finale a bit.
It doesn't matter where you build a fab plant. Thankfully you don't need to manage transporting inventory between bases.
Everything else (healing, resting, training) - locally.
