Myrmidons really are pretty badly designed enemies.
If you destroy their torso (which is basically their entire body minus wings) - they will no longer be able to bite, which effectively eleminates them as a threat since they have no offensive actions outside of that.
After you do that - they usually just try to escape, or just hang around and go back-and-fourth hoping you'll be stupid enough to try and melee them or something.
But otherwise i do agree that its exceptionally f*cking stupid that a glorified dog-sized grasshoped has same HP as an elite Arhtron. It makes no sense to me... But it is what it is.
Regular myrmidons can be melee'd as there is no explosion. Venemous myrmidons you can survive their explosion, you'll just need to use a medkit immediately after. Acid mymidons are the truly dangerous ones.
