What to do about a virus-infected soldier?
I have a soldier who just got 15 virus. I'm in a mission with swarms of tritons with redeemers, there's no avoiding them completely. I just nursed one guy from 7 virus, but this other got 15. If I baby-sit him 15 turns, it will only mean more drools of tritons with virus entering the map, and more of my guys with virus. Do you think I should weather it and try to save him, or just give up and abandon him to his fate?
Some tortures this game throws at you are really a bit too much.

The thing about virus is that it doesnt shut down people completely.
They just get stuck in a loop of: Panic > Restore > normal turn > Panic > Restore.

So you technically should be able to save him, but yeah - virus is not fun. At least it doesnt deal any actual damage.

Panic forces the character to take the recover action on its next turn, recover action makes you immune to panic for the next turn. Unless you are playing a very old version of the game, before they nerfed virus, you should have a turn for every 2 turns lost.

As for how to remove virus. There is a late game virophage med pack and the mutoid cure spray. If you still hate it try rush through the main story lead and you will get the med pack.

Try to save him.. He can move a little every 3rd turn.. Research a Siren with virophage to get the virophage medkit. The Sirens arms appear blue/green but not all blue/green arms are virus).. But yea if you're early game maybe you should reload. A vehicle helps but I never use vehicles.

Every time he is able to do something, I make him Recover. Is this a good idea or should I take those windows to try to move him towards possible evac?

depends how close he is to evac point and how much virus he has compared to how many willpoints he has. If he is close, move him. If he is far and cannot recover more WP than virus, move him. If he can recover more WP than virus, recover

Considering 15+ virus just saps his entire WP anyway - that's a waste of time. Just move him. You won't be able to out-recover virus this strong.

If you have priest with frenzy then you can protect all team against panic.
If you can't extract them, get them into a vehicle if you have one. They can't panic inside the vehicle and can just take recoveries, then you can extract. They're still useless but at least they're safe-ish inside the vehicle until they calm down or the mission is done.

Psychic ward also works.
