kaos weopons break too often to actually be worthwhile
in the new dlc these weapons are really strong, but you cant patch them up between fights so they just break. This prevents them from being worth the cost, even if you have completed all of the weapon cost reduction missions.

You should be able to repair them at the kaos syndicate for free every time you visit, to restore their reliability completely. After a few shots they become useless.

Agreed

Really? They only explode if you force them, they need two consecutive fumble in the same mission.

But, there is a bug, you purchase several weapons of the same type, and after mission, you unequip all your Kaos weapons, leave personnel panel to Geoscape, and next mission you equip agan from the common inventory, that way malfunction is 0% again for your new weapons, and those are dirty cheap, and you save in ammo

it doest work i bought 2 obliterator and did the thing and when i got into the mission 1 of the weapon still had 32% malfunction

Well, I have more than two units of every Kaos wepaon I have used, and it worked for me.

Remember , you have to unequip after mission in personnel panel, soldier inventory, go to Geoscape and equip just before mission

The funny thing is - i bought a bunch of them, but yet to actually use one. Sniper rifle in particular is laying around for months now, but i'm just scared of bringing it. I took 2 shoots with AR, got a fumble on 4% (lucky me) and never used it again since.

These things are cursed. Like, their power output is amazing but do you REALLY want to gamble your entire operation on the sniper ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the ONE shot he wasn't supposed to ♥♥♥♥ up? I thought we were trying to be different from XCOM.
Like, i had my fair shair of 99% hitchance misses in my XCOM days, don't get me wrong - i'm no stranger to gambling, but when picking between a gun that's reliable and WILL hit a close range target 100% and a gun that's powerful but can ♥♥♥♥ it all up - my choice is clear.

As far as i'm concerned... These things are one-shot wonders. I payed 400 materials for the cannon in order to bring it against a scylla. rage burst it into her ass and then throw it away immediately because i'm NOT risking 2% chance to ♥♥♥♥ it all up next time and lose a soldier. Either that - or you're never supposed to use it with a rage burst to begin with because wasting gun shots is fine, but wasting my abilities is too far.
So what? Are these just for memes? For dunking on weak enemies but switching to PROPER weapons once the real ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan?
I just don't get it. At all. I don't know what to do.

It's like that part of FPS experience where you find a very powerful gun, but it has next to no ammo capacity and so you hold on to it for "the real deal", but the "real deal" just never comes because you were doing just fine with your basic weapons and so you end up just not using it at all.
Sigh. I guess i just need to eat it and just start bringing these things on random operations just for the lulz.

Gonna be honest I love the new guns and I'm fine with them failing at times, I just wish they never exploded only becoming hoplessly jammed till post-mission repair.

Why we can't maintain them I don't know...

If the weapon fumbles you just don't use it again , two consecutive fumbles for same mission, and yes, it will explode
yeah i like the new guns. I tested your 'exploit' out thoroughly and it works, so thanks. They typically have a reliability between 0 and 6 when a battle starts, which steadily increases. That is a much more tolerable level of reliability and makes these guns a better option in most cases.

It's the risk factor that gives it flavor... I personally enjoy having that risk/reward debate when I'm in a tight spot, or having a perfect plan go awry due to a jam and then having to compensate - I just got my favorite Berserker killed due to a weapon fumble. The cannon is awesome but is REAL risky, the sniper rifle is good, the assault rifle is meh, but the shotgun... ooooh that shotgun. At close range it can one-shot all but the heaviest tritons and arthrons and at long range it still has tight enough grouping to do some serious damage. Plus, I do love acid weapons, just the image of melting the carapace off of a crab man... gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Totally worth the risk - as long as you remember to bring another gun just in case.

And there we are, folks. All i needed to hear to never use one ever again.

Now what the hell am i supposed to do with 2 pistols that i already bought... ♥♥♥♥'s sake. It's not like my A team has a gunsligner to spare...
these guns will clearly not appeal to the risk averse :P

how does the exploit work again? Do you need 1 copy that is "undamaged" or can you equip all your copies without having to keep one "undamaged" one in reserve?

I found that you need 2 copies of a kaos weapon (damaged or undamaged) stacked on each other after each mission that your soldiers equipped with these weapons does. Stack them from the soldiers' inventory into the global pool of weapons (the store or inventory). Then re-equip them to your soldiers and their reliability will be restored to first-use levels when you fight again.

Typical Snapshot. Give you something useful then negate that usefulness by x10. I'm sure they believe they lose money each time someone completes the game. What ever you do never tell them you are having fun or they will activate the nerf gun.
