Mark of Death. Aim for the eyes. Rageburst Defender/machinegun...
No overwatch/reaction-shots do not trigger.
Turrets if you have - it can't damage those.
Only one Phoenix soldier needs to survive....
When using manual aiming you can see what disabling a body part will do. The eyes, when disabled, will give -900 max HP. Its basically a bonus 900 damage when shooting one, as long as you disable it. Which isnt too hard since they only have 100 HP.
As for mark, you can see it as a status effect on the affected soldier. It looks a lot like the Master Marksman indicator, but with a number next to it. You can also inspect any of your soldiers if you're unsure if they have it, and check the status affects list.
* Spread your 9 man squad around so you have multiple angles across the front.
* Each turn identify anyone who has a mark on them and make sure you separate from the rest of the group at least 5 spaces
* Turrets are very powerful, drop a few in front of the shields
* Technician very useful for healing if a soldier is close to death, but I find them better for extra turret attacks on open shield side
* Watch out for the spawning arthrons which have shadow tar and will create an umbra when killed, either disable their pincer arm, or firebomb them
* Fill your inventory with spare ammo for your main weapons, (each of my soldiers has 2 main weapons)
* Bring AR and Shotguns on your assaults - end-game each assault can carry both easily
* Bring Deceptor and another heavy weapon, plus Destiny II on each of your heavies
* Each soldier should have 1 medikit
* Snipers can bring both Gugnir and Raven
* Spider drones are very helpful to spread aggro early on, but become void spreaders once past valley area so leave them behind.
* Be aggressive, spend your will and unload when the shields are open on your side
* Recover will when shields are not open
* Heavies with biochemist and Deceptor racks up virus on the YE really easily
* Use the Assault Onslaught ability on soldiers who have good angle LOS to enable them to shoot more
* Close range the range with heavy and rage burst with deceptor
YOU NEED (!!!) a mind damaging character. I played with the exalted, who do 100 mind damage. But with the hitpoints the boss ghas, this mission is really a flawed joke to every honest player !
