How does vireophage damage work?
Is it main HP only damage like poison? or does it do body part damage like acid or fire can?

It's just extra straight damage, to pandorans.

So it does apply to the hit body part? That's a kind of critical point.

Why wouldn't it? Like I said, it adds straight damage. So if it says 100 base damage and 40 virophage damage, then to a pandoran it would do 140 damage and to a human it would do 100 damage.

Scorpion(sniper riffle) become available faster then virophage weapon, this way virophage weapon don't do any damage at all since it is absolutely useless

Also in game we have close range aircraft cannon - it is useless since it is "close range"

Supposedly it's a damage type that ignores armor or something like that. It's mechanics are weird, but extra damage is great. Guaranteed destroyed limbs for most enemies. . IMHO virophage sniper rifle is the best and grenades are amazing. And no, I never tested scorpion. Legacy of the ancients can suck my ancient legacies. What a terrible DLC.

Nothing I've read says vireophage damage ignores armor.

Maybe it does, there's no good documentation, but I haven't seen anybody else saying so.

It could, if you aggressively run the applicable complex of missions.

Since I've preferred to neither abandon all the Havens nor neglect to develop the technology needed to end the Behemoth threat, and didn't have stacks of surplus operational capacity, I didn't. I don't yet have any ability to field ancient weapons.

...I don't know which aircraft cannon you're calling useless, since there are at least two relatively short-range cannon, but the phoenix one isn't useless. Not the weapon I'd prefer to use, but when you need more aircraft weapons fast in the first Behemoth incursion it's an actual option, while most better weapons aren't. The Anu one might be, I didn't need to try it. The NJ short-range rocket pod isn't useless, though, it hits really hard.

I think virophage weapons are supposed to be effective against mutated humans (like Anu and the Forsaken) as well?

Yea anyone infected with pandarovirus.

For Gungnir it doesn't matter. Even if target have 80 armor, then your physical damage will reduce 110->30 and after thet will be added virophage damage.
In previous update i was testing Gungnir, +50% from stealth, +25% from Snaiperist perk works also for virophage damage.

I try to protect as many Havens as i can, it fors me to expand faster, first ancient weapon i have at 77% of population, all 5 teams have weapon at 74%.

after you complete Virophage weapons research you will have another one for construct virophage aircraft cannon.
I think there are only 2 useful cannon:
NJ - 1700 range, 80% accuracy, 120 damage, ignor armor (cheep)
PP - 1700 range, 95 accuracy, 150 damage (expensive)
All other are not effective after 1-2 Behemoth.

I'm planning to kill Behemoth ASAP in the third incursion. Thus, 'late-game' air-to-air weapons will be largely irrelevant.

But yes, the NJ railgun and the hybrid-tech electrolaser cannon are both quite good. The Synedrion laser is pretty useful too early on, because it has great range, accuracy, and rate of fire. Suffers against armor, but you can mitigate that some by pairing it with the starter missiles.

i am pretty sure the perk that increase accuracy and reduce damage does not reduce viro damage
