Lack of Things to do?
I've gotten to a point where I've explored all the nodes nearby my bases and I'm out of range of any other major objectives. I can't earn more materials and tech to expand and it seems like all I can do is wait now. Am I doing something wrong?

Raid.

No raiding means a stalled campaign.

Exploration is very important but also quite convoluted. You need to reveal points of interest (POI) to be able to move around the Geoscape (each POI works as a gas station for your aircraft). POI are generated with campaign start and their number is fixed.

Exploration
Visiting havens
Every time you discover (visit for the first time) a new haven, 1-3 POI around that base will be revealed. If there are no more POI around the haven, it will not give you anything.

Reaching 25 reputation with faction
If you reach 25 reputation (which also means successfully finishing their special mission) the previous mechanic of visiting havens will also explore (not just reveal unidentified POI) few havens around the visited haven. This lead to a chain reaction: you visit one haven and you will get (already explored) position of another and maybe even some unexplored but revealed POI.

Activating new Phoenix Point bases with Satellite Uplink
POI will be automatically discovered in the range of Satellite Uplinks. Satellite Uplinks slowly increase their range (it will take a couple of days to reach their maximum).

Resources generation
  • exploration of POI
  • trading (each faction has one cheap resource): Anu has cheap food, Jericho has cheap material and Synedrion has cheap tech). Buy cheap, sell expensive. It requires one early technology and you also need quite a few havens so you can continuously travel between them (I think they "recharge" their resources every 48 hours).
  • defending havens against pandoran attacks
  • raiding: this will decrease your reputation with the faction (which makes early/mid exploration tougher)

PS: Raiding is very advantageous but not required.

Do you know that you can remotely activate bases, that you can not reach with aircraft yet?
And then build radar to revel new POI and/or new aircraft and place on new base with crew to explore from there?

Thanks for the replies.

This is what I was looking for. Best Regards.

Thanks! Now I'm just trying to figure out how to trade for profit.
Bobucles Oct 23, 2023 @ 8:15pm
Trading for profit is very easy, but also very grindy. All trades are pretty much net neutral or net profit, so just do as many trades as possible. This means building dedicated aircraft to fly around and hit all the places. They restock every few days, so more trading means more money. It's a pretty disgusting snowball.

It is also possible to generate resources by capturing and eating pandorans. Paralysis weapons are pretty damn good and can bring in a steady supply of food every mission. Trade the food for mats and tech.

The high difficulty mods make trade neutral or operate at a loss, so capturing pandorans is the only real way to get resources from trade.

All interesting points, I'll keep this in mind.... especially the part about eating pandorans. Thanks!

I'm a little unclear on how this works. So.... I..... always trade? Because sometimes I hit 3 or 4 places that want tech and if I accept all these trades, I wind up with 0 tech. Other times, I'll focus on making trades that favor tech, but then, food and materials dry up really fast. It looks to me like trading functions at a loss, but its possible I'm doing it wrong.

What kind of paralysis weapons are you using? I found a reddit post that says paralysis weapons consist of neuralizer (melee), Hera (pistol), Aspida (vehicle), Athena (sniper rifle). The sniper rifle is the only one that sounds viable to me, but I've seen other threads on this forum that suggest the neuralizer works best if you use it right.
