Any tutorials on setting up a good dev enviroment for TTP?
Hi.. I'm a pretty heavy TTS user and want to try building my next mod in TTP... but a little confused as to how to actually set up a good development environment.

In TTS I use an app called ATOM which is a visual editor for writing LUA (and other code) like VisualStudio. I write the LUA code in Atom and use a plugin in Atom to "send" it to TTS.. which then reloads.

As far as I can tell I can only edit scripts in TTP inside the application itself... but as I am a novice programmer (despite making some pretty complex TTS mods) I am wondering if there is a way to plug in a proper visual editor like Atom or VisualStudio or the like.

TL;DR
  • Basically I would like to know a good way to go about setting up a development environment that is suited for creating highly scripted mods.
  • What are the "modders" resources I need to be reading?... API, Tools, 3rd Party Tools and the like
  • Any good tutorials I can look at made by the community yet or code snip wiki or something?

Thanks!

A good place to get started with scripting is here: https://tabletop-playground.com/knowledge-base/scripting-basics, some basic tutorials are linked there. The API documentation is at https://api.tabletop-playground.com.
We recommend Visual Studio Code (VS Code) as Editor. ATOM will work as well, but VS Code will give you more features like interactive debugging.

A good place to discuss with other modders about scripting and get quick help is the #scripting channel on our discord at https://discord.gg/tabletop-playground

why is everyone using dicord now... I mean I get it is simple to set up but it is a HORRIBLE replacement for traditi9onal fourms.

All the information is transitory. Any cool things get loist forever.. you can not join a dicord and then find a tutorial written 5 years ago in detail with images and page formatting. It is an absolutely terrible place for a company to consolidate information, imo.
Isn't there an asset converter for TTS mods? I know it will not do scripts.. but I thought I read about one once?
