Can I edit the light in any way? I hate that it shines super bright when I view the table from directly up

Editing lighting is currently not possible, but on the roadmap: https://trello.com/c/USBqoDoq
You can also adjust the "Roughness" of objects in their appearance options to control how shiny they are. For the table itself, you could create a copy of a table in the editor and reduce its roughness there.
