For a fraction of the cost, too
I feel like that's an oversimplification
Ye, I'm currently using Roll20 for free. If I was more into DnD and played it more than 3 times a month I would consider investing into something else but I have other priority purchases for other hobbies
But I agree with most people: If you want to play DnD or any other RPG, look for a platform that is focused on RPG. Tabletop RPG is not just a fancy table with a few sheets. You need a good combat tracker, you need a good framework to support effects, dice rolls, targeting, etc.
Tabletop Simulator and this are great for Board Games. They're not even good for playing very simple RPG systems.
I know that once Fantasy Grounds Unity is out, in the next years they want to explore having 2.5d and even 3d maps.
if you don't want to spend money and want to DM go for Roll20, or if you want to be a player join a game on Fantasy Grounds for free. If you want to spend money on the best platform out there, wait for Fantasy Grounds Unity to be ready (Beta tests are already underway)
I feel that's just a thing you tell yourself to feel better about your own purchasing behavior.
Oh my gosh I have no idea how this went under my nose. It's everything I've wanted in a virtual DnD system
I might try and dip my feet back into 3D modelling for this
Thank you for the info!
Sure! Feel free to add me if you ever feel up for it and we can maybe figure something out for weekends eventually.
