2nd best. Because DoA5 has much better stages and no dumb meter.
Some might say DOA1 is the worst because DOA1 feels clunky and outdated if you play it today, but at the time it came out it was one of the best 3D fighters, huge sales, kick starting the DOA franchise and even saving Tecmo from bankruptcy.
I think DOA5 is considered the best by many, had years of support to build huge character roster and tons of dlc costumes. But for me DOA4 is the best, it also got a decent amount of content like female Spartan from Halo as an unlockable character, only unlike DOA5&6 where you have to buy season passes to get everything, I appreciate that you just pay one price to buy DOA4 and you get everything.
As for rating DOA6, I rate it slightly above average like 7/10. It's a fun game, good for newcomers, just doesn't live up to DOA5 that came before, no tag mode and less characters than DOA5.
Someting tells me that TK didn't like not the game sales but costume/hair sales numbers.
Sales and impact is irrelevant. Gameplay wise its worst DoA game.
But when devs try to do the same with DoA6 community gone nuts.
All fighting games like this. They add old characters trough DLC. And no this is not gonna change. Because fighting games was always like this before DLC it was ultimate turbo etc editions.
Saddly these days long gone. Gamers lost this battle.
Both game games have roughly the same roster.
While i miss tag it's not that good gameplay wise. Especially online.
You juse need decent hardware.
- Bright stages
- New game
cons
- No lobby match at launch
- Reselling Nyotengu and Phase 4 as DLC
- Removed Tag mode
- Removed many Online modes
- Downgraded Character visuals (bad anatomy, too much compressed textures, bad weight skinning)
- Stage Danger Zones are toned down
- Stage visuals from 2015 (no reflection at all and no ambient occlusion in 2019 wtf. most important thing is there is no unique art style, it just feels like unreal 4 indie games)
- Censored costumes
- Only 0~1 new costume for male characters (total 2)
- Bad new animations
- Boring brand new characters
- Terrible costume unlocking system
- Lack of stages (total 13 stages, 4 stages from previous game)
- No improvement for gameplay (it's changed from the previous game. can't say that it's "improved")
- Broken Side Attack
- Lack of variation of juggle combos
- Short and boring story mode
- Many details are gone
- Bad CPU AI
- No new game modes (DOA Quest is not actual game mode. it just 2nd tutorial and it's not good for tutorial)
- Bad lip sync on English dub
there are more problems but I will stop.
I can even make a book about "why doa6 bad"
Also, the season passes being more expensive than the actual game was also a mess !
Overall the game had a long lasting community but I'm already looking forward for 7.
The rage of tekken with your choice to activate power blow or power lawnchair! Are you sure that doa5lr had a hidden meter system?
Great content and gameplay aside, I would say the worst business practice started on 5 then it progressively went worst later. Things are looking grim with either the reboot of doa and doa7.
Look, I want to be hyped for the next doa as much as everyone here. I dont want anything in the back of my mind thinking that I might regret my purchase later on. Like locking my main behind a paywall day one. >.<
As for the best, that is easily DoA 5: LR. The combat in the game is fast paced as I love it, the "ultimate" system is fairly balanced, the combo system is very satisfying, especially with the use of critical bursts to add a flare to the combos, the stage transitions implementing a "rock, paper, scissors" game to determine a defense or successful attack that adds a cinematic drop on the opponent. This is easily my favorite in the series.
As for DoA 6, I feel it's pretty mid. I like the visuals and the core combat is pretty fun. The lack of some of the features from previous games is a bit disappointing, such as Tag mode and the thrilling stage transitions that involved a slight mini-game to determine attack or defense. I really hate how they changed the "ultimate" system to a single button press that comes out nearly-instantly, which took away the satisfying feeling of using your ultimates that was in the previous game. I feel DoA 6 could have been a lot better if they didn't change or remove features from the previous games that worked perfectly fine.
Well DoA 6 sales was not that bad. It's only underperformed in DCL sales.
DoA selling point was looking good. Most of the time DoA games was best looking games in their generations. Even DoA 6 second only to MK(overeal MK do look better but mk bodies feels kinda off in their proportions). It looks better than tekken 7 or SC6.
No one forces you to buy them.
It always been like this. Even in good old days. All devs do this. But only DoA community go nuts because of this and then complain when devs abandon the game.
I couldnt disagree with you, Slayer. The character models look better than any fighting game. Even SF6 doesnt hold a candle to it. Mk1s is eeh ok.
Sure doa 6 sales isnt that bad but lobbies were missing and population declined within a month upon release because of the 90k tournament. Instead of using the resource to polish doa 6 TK just had to squander it. In hopes that everyone will get hooked in. Welp that failed! New content support and patches stopped a year after.
Exactly.
Despite some flaws (stages, the meter, and so on...) DOA 6 is an amazing game. Wish we could get a DOA 7 soon.
