JP you get proper characters sounding as they should and have emotion... dunno if they look for emotionless shells for english or what but i never touch ENG tracks in a JP game
never used the english (only play games/watch movies in the original language) so i don't know about that but if the game has english voices you are right to expect a good quality voice acting
The English voice acting is fine, they're just required to say stupid things translated from Japanese that English-speakers would never say, at least not in that tone. They could try to re-write it to sound a bit more natural in English, but they're not going to change the body language or facial expressions, or the fact that Nico looks 13 years old but needs to be voiced by an adult. Just leave it in Japanese and let Japan be Japan.
