The gameplay of this game is really boring
And i dont know exactly why. The tutorial is a freaking torture (i mean the complete one, not the initial one of pressing one button) so many mechanics, so much crap doesnt make a fighting game fun, just obnoxious. I also find annoying that i dont really know when you can hit the enemy. Like, sometimes they are in the floor and if you try to hit them it just doesnt happen and you get countered, but other times it does. I dont know, i dont feel that the game is intuitive about the hitboxes or about blocking, the neutral is freaking boring, you can spam the counter, the meter has like no purpose besides the special and avoiding the special. Maybe it just isnt my game (first fighting game that i dont like in a while). Well i bet someone will say "this isnt a fighting game, its all about T and A", but just wanted to know what the hell makes this game mechanics so unnapealing.

So basically, you're incapable of keeping up. Thanks for sharing.

I dunno, not all fighting games appeal to everyone.
I really don't like NetherRealm Studios fighting games, I only really put up with Mortal Kombat because I like Mileena and Kitana.
But I think that their fighting games play awfully and have some of the worst animations in the genre ( some of them are just totally unacceptable considering their studio size and budget... ).

I don't like DoA as much as Tekken and Soul Calibur, but it's still among my favorite fighting games.
Dunno about your issue with the hitboxes either, I've never felt like I should be hitting someone but didn't vise versa.
And if someone is just spamming holds then just throw them?

Sure, i dont like injustice 2 because is all about zoning and it kinds of annoys me that MK11 is looking like that too, without the zoning it would be cool. Like i said i am not sure why i dont like the mechanics of this game, maybe its just that it has too much crap that is not intuitive.

Seems like it's your first one, since you don't know how fighting games work. Nice troll post #30 though.

Can't really say why you don't like the game, it's completely subjective and I'm sorry you are not enjoying it.

Some things to mention:

When you knock someone down to the floor, unlike other fighting games, the situation isn't automatically to your advantage. That is because the knocked down person has access to a recovery mid or low kick that has invincibilty frames, which makes them dangerous. I think this is what you meant when you said "if you try to hit them it just doesnt happen and you get countered", you probably hit right through one and got counter hit. As a beginner, the best thing to do is back away outside the kicks' range, and only try to attack them on the floor/hold the low or mid kicks/bait the recovery and throw, etc. when you have figured your opponent's habits out. Against the AI...don't bother it's probably completely random.

You definitely can't spam the counter in neutral, that is a quick way to get destroyed. If your opponent notices that you like spamming hold, they will simply throw you that does extra damage against holds (hi counter throw).

The meter is used for Break Hold, Fatal Rush, and Break Blow. I think this is fine, I don't see why meter would need more usage. Besides, you yourself said that "so many mechanics, so much crap doesnt make a fighting game fun, just obnoxious."

well, i don't know, do you play other 3d fighting games? i think DoA is one of the easiest to pick up and fight, if anything the general consensus was -since the early days- that is too simple and not suited for serious competitive play, compared to the other big 3d fighting games, tekken, SC and obviously VF that was really hard to get into. Tekken is in the sweetspot for me.
It's not like the triangle system doesn't have its complexities but it's fairly straightforward to understand. maybe 2d fighters are the thing for you.

Edit: You can also use the meter defensively, and if you or your opponent are just getting rekt by holds then you're probably just spamming the same attacks over and over again and are being too predictable.

agreed, the hold system is one of the best thing of DoA, a high risk high reward system, you expose yourself spaming that.
and the other is also true DoA is really one of the most punishing game on players that don't mix their attacks, it's almost mandatory to mix the attacks all the time, to me seems like a good design choice.

all in all i still think tekken is a better game

Sounds like you just dont have the patience to learn a fighter you're not familiar with. Just admit that instead of making it seem like it's the game's fault. Lol

its a shallow fighting game, what else did you expect? you dont see this game in the professional competitive scene like sf, tekken, dragonball, mortal kombat. dead or alive is for people who like softcore porn and eye candy and tecmos other volleyball game. lool. if you master the counter button in dead or alive you can beat anyone.
play tekken if you want a 3d fighter with some depth. DOA is just for the tiddies

hahahahaha. Go win the $90,000 DoA tournament. Since it's so easy for you, master.

Did you guys even read the OP post? He is complaining because the game actually has too many mechanics, not because it's too shallow.

Why would he go and do that when this game is so "beneath him", amirite?? Loool
Obviously he's bringing home moneybags from other fighting game tournaments.

That's your taste dude. Nothing can be universally liked by everyone.
Red Mar 3, 2019 @ 4:01pm
Didn't you get the memo guys? A game with tits is automatically shallow, come on.
milesofbodys Mar 3, 2019 @ 4:29pm
DOA is the easiest to learn, but hardest to master. Competitive players don't like it because mind games are involved in winning more so than knowing a characters complete move list and combo list. It also stops character cheese or any one character being OP compared to others. If someone is good at reversals/holds and throws you can dominate chain jugglers etc. The new stuff they added makes it even more frantic. You can have matches that look like kung fu movies from all the holds/reversals popping back and forth. no other fighting game has satisfying exchanges like in DOA.
