How's the single player content?

Thinking about picking this one up, usually enjoy the DoA series for the story and arcade modes, but don't bother with going online for MP. Is there enough SP content to justify grabbing it early?

Also, I've been playing DoA games for a while, don't give a crap about either the season pass price (won't be buying that) or any of the troll-y fan service topics.

Story mode is really short, just a heads up. the quest mode is pretty decent content though!
You can finish the story in like 2 hours.

I feel for you: it's hard to find relevant threads in this mountain of crapposts.

SP content is the same as DOA5 minus the tag team modes. You don't need to grab it early but the price won't be down for a long while, barring of course the F2P mode.

Story mode isn't exactly stellar but decent. I'm sure you'll like the mission mode but it's not THAT amazing.

Might mention that the grind for outfits is also really real.
Not like the DOA5 where you could do an arcade run on the character you like and get something for that character.

Sorry for hijack, but this is important for me. Does this game have tag team matches vs AI?
In DOA 2 there was 5 mission tag team matches vs AI

Like this:
Kasumi and Hayabusa vs Tina and Bass, after they are beaten you progress to next level facing Genfu and Helena etc...

EDIT. I guess Marginal0 already answered to this. Sucks a ton, DOA's strength was always in tag team matches

No tag mode at all this time.

Honestly pretty bad. I would say where this game shines may be the online components... But all we have is this single 'Ranked Match' option. No custom lobbies, no casual player match, no tag teams, no tournaments. Very barebones at the moment.

To add to the list of modes already (which is to say, all the ones from DOA5) it's very important to clarify that VS CPU is in, with all the costumes etc you've got unlocked available for both characters. I mention this because as someone who's not all that keen on online, VS CPU is the one feature I absolutely have to have.

Anyway, if you liked DOA5's SP, you'll like it in 6, unless Tag is something you really wanted. Based on some of the titles, though, it seems Tag may possibly be coming later.

I saw those titles in a pre-release build, are they in the full retail version? O_o

this. i would add that the tutorial/practice mode is arguably the best among current fighting games, up there with guilty gear.

Does Arcade have any kind of character theme to it, or is it just 8 or so rando opponents?

Seems to be completely random.

Game runs smooth, story mode is short (Completed it in 2 - 3 hours), online is active and you can easily get matched with players in seconds.

story mode is kinda meh but that was expected
quests mode is interesting and time consuming
arcade mode needs more difficulty level
versus is lacking tag team mode if that's your thing
survival mode and free training is a good time waster
com vs com spectator mode is good and fulfill its purposes
combo challenge is exhausting and quite the challenge for me

also, you can just use cheat engine to unlock all base free costume and be done with all the drama that may be created later
