There's a fair amount of ayane players and a few nyotengu players but both characters are very gimmicky and lose a lot of their advantage if your opponent knows how to play against them. This game is more about playing who you like rather than who's good though so if you like the character then there's no reason for you not to play them.
I never play the meta in a game anyway, unless it happens for something I enjoy to be meta, but in moba games that usually changes fast so I don't worry toouch. Meta slaving isn't fun.
That said, if you're looking to shut off your opponent's controls for entire rounds and have just slightly too much dignity to use Marie Rose to do the same thing, Helena's a perfect fit. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend her. Pro tip: in her Bokuho stance, ducking will dodge mid attacks, by somehow being considered lower than Brad Wong is when he's literally laying on the ground.
Marie is my main.
Just looking to extend a little.
True, it's funny that Bohuko duck is lower than sitting but oh well. Iirc, that stance can't be maintained, right? At least that what I saw in FoN's vid guide for her, so maybe that's why it evades mids as well.
That aside, Helena masters are nasty, they are hard to escape and her stances make her a pain to hit, Users who have plenty of low attacks (like Kuula) might be a issue as they will break you stances a lot more (speaking from experience). Like most she is someone who needs heavy investment in learning stances and combo's, she has easy throws and stances which switch into throws are not the hardest to execute, just don't expect Bass power when executing them.
As equally mentioned above, the more Ayane and Tengu users makes me easier to read so Helena does have that going for her. I wouldn't base your opinion on this though as Ayane can be annoying for them who don't know her well (like myself) as her inability to keep still for a second makes the pressure she exerts be felt.
Ayane is a terrible sub choice if you don't mind learning her and getting used to all her attacks leaving you in random positions from back-to-foe to jumping all over.
Tengu is good for power and masters high combo locks and throws but she is equally easy to lock in by faster users like Marie and Helena, for me (who knows Honoka well) i find she isn't someone to panic about when she appears when i use Honoka as i can probably out damage her throws and i know i have speed on my side.
But my advice is simple, if you like them, play them! Meta is not my thing either so i always just play what i like in any game, and i this is why i picked up Kuula (she is cute :D).
I've always suspected that was the motivation behind the decision to make Bohuko duck so low, but it's still an imbalance. Anyway, why bother with Helena if Marie's your main? It seems like you would already have all the completely defenseless, immobile opponents you want just by sticking with Marie. Neither one are the types of characters you'd choose if you're interested in an interactive, literally multiplayer match, but of the two Helena has (somewhat) fewer stuns and juggles.
I like how Helena looks and she seems fun to play. Plus her voice is cute.
Thanks for the input.
I prefer the challenge to learn more complicated stuff because it's fun to do so, part of the fun is in the process of learning after all.
power, usefulness, or efficiency in battle doesnt matter
