^ according to gamefaqs she's just a normal tier
let's see you fight jan lee with her smartass.
People don't get guard held for those reasons. They get held because a lot of people compulsively hold, or you are breaking one of the main DOA rules which is mix your stuff up. They can't hold you if you don't take a swing at them. Don't complete all your strings, and throw them when they try to hold. That hurts - a lot. If they catch on, they will now have to worry about something new, and if they don't they will likely die.
Also use different combo routes. A lot of people just mash one kind of hold because it works often enough, or they find a hold that works on you. There are people that will hold one kind of thing 100% of the time and 0% of something else. You can get similar damage lots of different ways, so lab your combo routes and mine for your options.
People that are dumb like me and can't figure out why something is hitting me may get bopped by doing the same two or three things over and over, but you need to layer on all your guessing games and every time something isn't working, do something else. There is always something else to try. If you are getting held, throw. If you are getting thrown, be more aggressive and stop holding. In this game in particular, if you say to yourself "I keep getting..." or "They keep..." then the problem is likely you are doing the same thing too much(guilty here). And if it's them that is really doing the same thing over and over, then it's potentially a gift they are giving you.
Some characters are easier to use at lower ranks than others because they have something easy to do and hard to stop. I think there is a lot less of that in this game than others, but it exists and Nico doesn't strike me as that kind of character. If you aren't an A or better rank player, she may not be an ideal character. Hitomi, Rig, Christie, and most of the ninjas have enough offensive crazy to perform well without knowing much about the game.
Shenanigans don't make characters good at a high level, but just might at a low one. At some point, shenanigans stop working and all the characters have to start playing the game differently. You probably can't have the perspective to know who is good or bad unless you at least make it to A rank.
Fighting games aren't easy, and who is good and bad shifts around a lot throughout skill levels. A new player having issues using a character doesn't make the character garbage. It just means winning ain't easy.
ima just add him lol
If to be honest, to me this character is absolutely basic and generic, without any perks. I wanted to test her in the training after hating to see her in matchmaker so often, but I was completely disappointed. Nothing special. And PK is just a silly lightning strike, again, nothing special.
That's my opinion, and I am glad if anybody enjoys playing her and has success on the competitive level with this char.
