I'm starting on milestone 3 which is to improve the graphics for PC. So far I've added parallax occlusion mapping which gives surfaces a bumpy 3D look. After trying it out the effect just doesn't work well enough to be useful. It breaks down on sharp corners and there are lots of those in this game. I've decided to leave the code in the engine because it might be useful somewhere or sometime in the future. This would have the regular 3D preview with a camera you can move around and a tile map editor to the side with an overhead view of the map.
