Small suggestion for Gold Puzzles in Isle of Blessed
When needing to restart from checkpoint after soft locking or whatever, the game throws you right back at the starting checkpoint near the VTOL. It's rather annoying to have to run back to the puzzle to try it again.

Thus the suggestion: Let players restart a gold puzzle without having to run back to it.

I get why this may have been done, to solve possible problems with gaining early access, but the game should know when the puzzles are being accessed appropriately and not punish the player for needing to restart in that situation.

Just a suggestion based on being fed up with having to run back to the save puzzle several times.

You know you can use various maps on the island as teleporting locations? You'll still have to run a bit, but not across the whole island.

use Reset. Its not the same as reset TOO checkpoint

Hold X to reset on PC. Dunno what it is on controller, but I bet there is a button you can hold to do it. Apparently this doesn't work on gold puzzles, even after they're unlocked. My apologies.

I get the feeling people haven't actually tried their suggestions?

Currently, if you are inside a Gold Puzzle in Isle of the Blessed, and you use Restart Checkpoint, or hold X to reset, or quit the game and reload, you will end up back at the VTOL. This also follows if you use the Prometheus Terminal to reset a Gold Puzzle back to being uncompleted. As far as I can see, anything that would cause you to reload a game with you starting inside a Gold Puzzle, will instead relocate you back to the VTOL.

Conversely, you can just walk out of a Gold Puzzle, hold X to reset, and be respawned standing *just outside* the puzzle but with all puzzle components reset.

It seems that the change made to teleport a player outside of Gold Puzzles before they're supposed to be unlocked is being too heavy handed, and doing something like checking player position on load before loading the conditions that determine whether a Gold Puzzle should be marked active or not. Even if that was intended, being flung back to the VTOL is still too much -- being dropped outside the Gold Puzzle would be sufficient in the large majority of cases.

Can confirm I didn't try it. Made the mistake of thinking the commenter above me had a point. My apologies, especially considering that same commenter gaslit me last week when I was trying to get the devs' attention about the numbered puzzles' absence on the compass. Feels like some people want this game to be a walking sim, but I sure as hell ain't one of 'em.

(Honestly, this game needs a lot of overhauls to make getting around less of a slog, both in the main campaign and in Isle of the Blessed. It actually makes me less excited to replay it, which was never an issue with Talos 1. At least we have Into the Abyss; that one seems quite replayable due to the ample teleport points.)

So yeah, they should definitely change this.

Edit: I just used the Prometheus terminal to reset one of the gold puzzles to solve it again. Even doing this restarts you at the VTOL. That's just bad lol

This doesn't solve the problem. There's still far too much distance involved.

This is the best solution so far, but only if you're not soft locked in a part of the puzzle you cannot exit it from.

It's disappointing that an apparent need to stop exploiters has only ended up punishing legit play in a ridiculous manner.

not to stop exploits, it was to let you get out of the first gold puzzle if you fell from the big orb.

The Gold Puzzles in Orpheus Ascending don't teleport you out if you've unlocked them though, even if you reset inside them. Only the ones in Isle of the Blessed are acting in this way, which seems like a bug to me. It's understandable that there needs to be a way to get the player out of a Gold Puzzle if it's locked (and it's definitely not impossible to break into them, though definitely not by accident as in Orpheus Ascending), but it shouldn't come at a reduction to the game's QoL features.

Yeah im not a fan of teleporting out of puzzles just because you haven't "unlocked" them yet. They did that in the demo, and though understandable it was still annoying lol

Pressing Reset or Rest to last checkpoint and Teleporting all the way back to the vtol sure must be a bug. It really should be like in all other puzzles where you "reset" right by the door, for the "closed" golden it should be right Outside the door OR at your last saved checkpoint., which is right at the door (the force field)

I will also call it a "bug" if the force field on the Locked golden puzzles gets triggered when entering from elsewhere.

Totally agree!
