Stars
Curious, I just finished my first area and missing the 2 stars... without spoiling anything, are these hidden outdoors or in puzzles rooms?

If outdoors, I dont think I'll care about finding them

outdoors, but their location is more obvious than TP1, if I can say this like this without spoiling anything.

They are outdoors but also not very difficult to find. You may stumble upon one at some point and once you do, you can still go back an get the others if you want :)

Do they serve any use except collectables?

Thanks for the answers!

Story side, not really. They will unlock something special if all collected.

You get stars from monuments. Monuments are shown as question marks on the compass and change into star symbols once you get close enough.
They unlock a secret cutscene.

Look at your compass if you have it turned on.

If you have compass turned on, you will see all the puzzles numbered on it as you look around. You'll also see a bunch of question marks. Those question marks are lost puzzles, lost labs, and star puzzle statues. Obviously you just solve the latter to gain stars. They aren't obnoxiously hidden in the environment like TP1. Some puzzles need you to guide a "spark", but the spark's location is indicated by the purple light coming from the statue. Some will require you to find somewhere or connect lasers to the statue, but these are always close to or directly in puzzles. You'll never have to blindly wander the wilderness.

From what I could tell the question mark doesn't show up until you're at least close enough to it, then it will be permanently on your compass.

Stars can disappear from the compass if you're too far away from their monuments. Not sure if that's also the case with other compass symbols because they're usually not that far apart.

The question marks/stars/other symbols tend to be in range of at least one puzzle. So if you know you're missing something and don't see the thing you are looking for on the compass, just go to each puzzle and look around until you find it. Also, icons for stars you already have and lost puzzles that you've already solved are translucent.
