Why is the Jutland's primary weapon so awful?
The Jutland's primary weapon is just all around terrible. The repeating cannons have higher DPS by far at all ranges up to 3400, and beyond 1200 the Heavy Ballistic cannons have awful damage as well as accuracy, so even though they have slightly higher range they still aren't any better. Worse yet, all other dreadnoughts have primary armaments that can reach out to 7000m.

What's up with this? Who thought this was a good idea?

its has 20k more hp then the next dread and you want it to be on par with the others dps wise... lol

funny after comparing it to other dreads it actually does more damage then the others with its main guns

The Jutland is a CQC ship, same for the Monarch. It's supposed to get in people's faces and eat them, which it will do with a little back up from a healer, if there is more than one. In a 1v1, if a Jutland/Monarch gets next to you, it's game over. Fit heavy flak and it will chew through a ship in around 3-5 seconds.

Uhh, the Heavy/Medium/Light dynamic is HP vs speed.

Also none of this is a reason why a ship's primary weapon should be worse than the secondary.

Heavy Flak has less DPS than Repeating Cannons too, with only a third as much range.

This is the meat of it. It's a noob trap.

A player finally unlocks the ship and assumes that the primary weapons should be used like primary weapons. But actually they suck in every scenario except waiting for the secondaries to reload. It's counter-intuitive.

People are out there using the primaries because they didn't check what aetrion did. And they're hating using the primaries, and they're losing games, because the primary gun is bad.

Most ships have secondaries that fill a gampelay niche. Close range, multi-directional, aoe, etc. The primaries on the jutland are basically the same role as the secondaries but worse.

they are called main guns because they are not situational and you use them a load more then the secondaries.

Unfortunately the heavy mortar is tier 5 only, i'd love to have that one.
