A competent T3 player, who hasn't spend a dollar, can always beat a T4 hero ship (if the pilot is incompetent, that is).
Note: The game has Ship ranks. You won´t encounter a T4 Hero ship when you fly a T1 or T2. You can encounter them as T3, but you´ll encounter normal T4 ships as well. T3 vs T4 is not unfair, if you play your cards right.
If you know the Hero ships, you can actually tell what abilities the enemy has and use that in your favor.
From what i've heard: There won't be a T5 Hero ship.
The skins and hull have to be bought.
It says that you can buy cosmetics and accelerate your progress. If you buy a Hero ship, you can only play the shown loadout and it's not unlocked (The modules themselves) when you reach the Tree counterpart.
Just a note: If equally skilled pilots face off in a T3 vs T4; the T4 will always win. Because the T4 ships are better than the T3's. I think that is pretty close to the defenition of unfair.
The game still is build around its modules. It's all about having a versitial fleet. Hero ships can not be modified.
Edit: Or a T3 Destroyer that is build for short range would lose against a T4 Destroyer that is build for long range. The T3 would still win.
People buy hero ships for several reasons :
1. increased free xp generation. Place a hero ship in your fleet and it will produce 10% more free xp even if it is never used.
2. for the cosmetics. Hero ships come with unique coatings, decals, emblems, and retrofits that can be used on any other ship. Retrofits are ship parts that can be used on the same ship type.
I personally own a majority of the hero ships, even a few normally unaccessible because they were part of founders packs, but I almost never use them. I use them for free xp gain and cosmetics on other ships.
A good T3 destroyer build,
Its the Jupiter Arms destroyer, forget name atm
particle beams III, secondary
vulture missiles III
torpedos III
weapon boost pulse III
weapon amp III
This build is quite deadly when you pop both your damage boosters and unload on something. Also turn on power to weapons at the same time for three damage boosts stacked at once.
Not true. T3's can beat T4's as long as your not stupid.
You dont buy "power" (pay2win) but they speed up your progres in the game.
Sounds like a great concept? Indeed.. =)
Suddenly Star citizen JPGs dont look that stupid, hehe..
It doesn´t matter what Tier the ship you want to customize is.
The coating can be applied to every ship.
The ingame shop even says, before the purchase, that you can´t modify them.
