Crossing the Styx

Before I dump all my subweapon ammo (including my precious Chakrams), what all I do have do to convince Charon I'm not "wealthy" so he'll let me pass? I have 2 gold and 0 weights; I dumped everything as other posts suggested I'm supposed to but he still says he won't take me across (and yes, 2 gold; i meant to bring only 1 but I accidentally grabbed a coin along the way; do I need to avoid grabbing those?)

How did you get there?

Possible solution:
Maybe it has to do with the harp and the recording of that one NPC in heaven's lab.?

I haven't even made it to Heaven's Labyrinth yet. I've beaten four bosses and I know others have gotten there but I have no clue how to reach it.

Treeptop top right, fight Rata. Drop down. 3 soul door iirc.

Thanks. Still doesn't tell me how to get Charon to let me cross, though. ^_^;

Also if you mean the big room with the locked chest just right of the icicle and the swinging platforms, he doesn't spawn for some reason? I've fought him in the Roots and in the Immortal Battlefield but he hasn't shown up in Icefire Treetops.

The olympian told me that for playing a song charon let him pass for 1 coin. So i would guess by using the recorded song you could do the same. But no idea.

How do i reach the River Styx so i can try?

And i remember fighting Rata at least... 4 times? Cant rember the places.

The River Styx is in the Underworld. Also I just figured it out: you have to have exactly 1 GP, or else he shuns you. Phew. It's trickier than it sounds but also not as bad as I was fearing.

All I did was have exactly 1g and he let me passed

He says he will take you across for 1 gp and will not ask for more .

It worked just fine for me, but I had exactly one gold.
