Hello, is there something wrong with the shipyards, small and large ? I build a small and large side-by-side, when i went and finished up my sloop in the small, i tried to release it and it wouldn't, checked all over the dock how to release it, then saw in red on the actual shipyard *Ships built will not release because of shallow water*, but that wasn't there when i placed the ship, and below the shipyard its almost 70 feet of water from front to end of the shipyard.

So, i went and destroyed the whole sloop build, and shipyard, rebuilt it on the other side of the large ship yard *not joined*, and made sure there was even more water below the shipyard, and again it wouldn't let me release the ship, *This time i made the sloop frame and put a few pieces on it, then checked the shipyard* and same writing. Whats wrong with them im on a private server, might be the server but I like the harvesting cause on original servers it so slow lol. Any idea besides it being the servers fault *Not my server some unknown*.

Bumping this as it hasn't been replied too, i am running my solo single server, and using the admin commands, placing the docks with no bottom, STILL says it will not be released because of shallow waters. Pics are attached, as this doesn't make sense, doesn't say the message before i place down the shipyard, only after i have built the frame for the sloop or brig etc and still will not let me release the ship finished or not.

Please assist, this is the blackwood DLC im now trying this on and still the same problem. So, unofficial and official servers I am still having this same problem.

Not sure if this is the same problem you have, but my shipyards said the same thing. The message in red appears that the shipyards cannot produce the craft, because the water is too shallow. It's nonsense, and I just released mine anyway when completed. They launched fine.

The message was not there when I placed the shipyards. It's apparently a bug. You should not have had to destroy the ships. They should have launched. Mine did.

I know for a fact that mine were placed in deep enough water, and as I said, the message was not there when I started the ships in each one.

You just have to trust it will work, if you know it's deep enough. For me, this is in single player mode only, no server.

This is yet another reason why I don't play this on any server......too many bugs.

I am not going to grind all those resources, destroy it because of some bug, and then move it some place and hope that the bug will not happen all over again.

I use snapping shipyards from the Workshop, they are much better. AND you can pick them back up whenever you like.

AND I have the no gold mod for ships in my shipyards, too.

With this games nightmare personal health management system, and dying of heat stroke all the time, not using mods like this would put me in an asylum or make the game unbearable to play.

Thanks for the reply, did you mention your only running single game ? I'd join if your running server ;) As for the ship release option, there was none, where it was suppose to be it wasn't there. I checked the shipyard, and the ship for a release. I mean, you can release the ship at any time you want while you are building the ship, shouldn't wouldn't recommend it BUT technically you can, that options not available to me.

Yea, sorry, it was just single player I was in. That might be the difference. For me, the option to release was there, and I released it, even though the red message was warning me it was too shallow.

So the bug might work differently in multiplayer, and for you, the option not be there. Sorry about that, if so. That really sucks, after you do all that work and then can't even launch the darn ship.

wiped the game from my system, any where there was even a mention of atlas, then re-downloaded the game, setup my server again and even joined the previous persons unofficial server, and still same problem. This isnt' my end its a game bug because noone knows how to fix this on their end. Noone else is having this problem ? This is preventing me now from playing the game, as, well you can't play half a game and if you can't build a ship, thats half the game play right there gone. ANYONE with info ?

Hey sorry for not replying until now, but the best advice I can give is submit a bug report over at the official forums for the game developers. I don't think they even pay any attention here in these forums, and from what I have seen people say about their communication with the player base of this game, I can't say that submitting such a report over at the official forums would do much good either, sadly.

But maybe......just maybe if enough people complain about this broken game, or the latest update messing things up so much, they might do something about it.

I am really sorry you have this problem. All I can say towards you playing the game, and being able to launch ships, is to play it in single player and use the Ocean map with the single player fix, or run it on Blackwood, as that map does not seem to be affected by the map bug, at least not for me.

Hello. Thanks for the replies, i have switched the map over to blackwood, and the ocean and , i still have these problems. Although the ocean one, without cheats is pointless since you start off some where in the ocean, and you can't go any where even if you swim :( So, can't really test it there, but blackwood is a no go. I'll see what happens when i post on the official servers like you said *The Giving One*... thanks again for the help.

Yes, maybe I was not clear on that. That is the same bug that is affecting everyone in single player, me included. There is a fix for it, but you have to do it yourself :

I still had no visible land on the Ocean Map, but it did start me on an island somwhere in the west of the map, around H7 or so. So I could at least play.

For Blackwood, I started normally and had land visible and the map was fine. The recent patch for the game seems to have broken the maps, and maybe is the cause of your launching ships issue in multiplayer.

When I started in Blackwood, that's when I saw the red message in my shipyard that the water was too shallow to make or launch ships, after I had fully built one, and I still had the option to launch them anyway. When I launched it, it worked fine for me.

So if you did not try that, maybe that would work for you. If nothing mentioned works, I am sorry because I am not sure what else to suggest.

Ok, so, i think i figured it out, at-least its not fixed but i can do a work around with no mods, and just simple thought. Still same problem, but i have a single player server, and in this server i can release the boat ONLY IF i build the floors, an place the steering wheel is to be, and then get ON the steering wheel, try to move sails around etc, get off it finish building your ship to how-ever-you-want and then you can release it. Dunno why its like this, even with the message that it won't release still there, it does release and give the release option this way. So, again ty for allll your input n help and now, i can enjoy the game, and try to figure out how to remove and lesson the gold requirements on my singleplayer server :( 5k for schooner, who can afford that at start ? :(
