Anyway to increase single player ship stat gains?
I've got a schooner with 9,000 weight of which 5,000 is filled with the bare minimum I want for exploration which would be fine if it weren't for the massive speed penatlies. So since leveling up weight only adds 80 which is less than one percent of its total weight I'm wondering does anyone know of a way to change ships like you can players and animals to increase a stat's gain on level up? I'm hoping to raise it to 2.5% roughly which would be 180 per level.

As far as I know, it's not a thing without using a mod. There's one that lets you set the base weight by ship class and another mod that gives you full set of sails of every size that you can customize for weight, turning, speed, etc. Sorry if that isn't helpful

It's helpful I"ll look for those mods seriously the weight values are just ridiculous with how fast the penalties stack up.

EDIT
Now if I can just figure out how to install them for single player.

Just hit the subscribe button on the workshop page for the mod. It will automatically download it to the game mod folder. Then, on the launch screen, after it's done installing, you'll see it listed on the right side under the available mods list. Click the icon (should be some arrows, and the mouse over will say add mod I think) to move it to the active mods list.

Try not to use mods that might conflict with each other, so, pick one sail mod to use, not 2 or 3. You can change which one you're using later, but you might lose the sails made with the previous mod; just be aware of that. Same with building or decor mods, if you remove them, you'll probably lose the items from that mod.

I recommed you 2 mods:

1) Custom Item Stacks (much more stack and 10% weight)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1629667379

2) Sail weight increase plus more. (more weight, speed, angle)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1631196617

With those 2 mods you will enjoy one totally different world!!!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm currently trialling total ships as it say's its increased crew, weight and other issues on a new ship so I want to see how it looks when I build one which is a little while away. Recently uninstalled and reinstalled due to regular white box ueshooter4 crashes on quiting (didn't fix it).

if you're not used to using mods, I'd be careful with using Total Ships, or any of the Total mods. They seem like good mods, but it looks like they add completely custom items that aren't necessarily compatible with vanilla items, i.e. you can't mix Total hull pieces with vanilla hull pieces or cannons from one with gunports from the other.

I also see where the mod author plans to add their own NPC hostile ships to the mod too, so that's something you want to keep in mind.

I didn`t recomment Total mods too. There`re almost new customs itens and it are giving a lot of more bugs and trouble. The 2 mods that i recommended you works with vanilla itens, so its much lower the changes to get more bugs.

Thanks for the warning, I've already seen the total ships one is entirely new/seperate items you need to purchase.

My problem is that the one you recommened from what I can see only lets you have more sails it doesn't do anything about the weight/crewing issues I have with the vanilla ones. I don't really want half a dozen sails on my ship (especially since the mast goes below decks on my schooner). Total ships at least promises (haven't launched one yet) more weight which will mean I can actually do a nice decorating job and have a reasonable amount of resources on board without getting massive speed penalties from going past 50%.

I have seen an occasional post about letting normal ships use more levels but I haven't found clear/simple instructions on how to do that. That honestly would be my prefered method of dealing with it if I could as I could just allow more levels/faster levelling of the ship so the <1% gain on weight is more manageable.
Well my preferred method would be just increasing the stat gain per level but everything I've seen say's that not possible.

Atlas 2.0(stacks n Tweaks) is the only mod I have running atm, I just got it for a stack mod try out, didnt realize it made it so I could carry everything and more in my inventory, let alone on a ship. heh. My ramshac schooner carried goods like a Gal.. not even build bigger than a Brig, so far and it carries everything I need.

No, you`re wrong. You can place a lot of sails too, but using original config from this mod, it gives you 50k weight for all sails (small, medium, largue, speed, weight or control). So, with just one sail you increases ship weight 50K, 2 sails 100K, 3 sails 150k.
I placed 3 largue speed sail on my schonner, it`s insane. I don`t have trouble with weight, and its very very very fast. I`m thinking on take out one sail, and put just 2.
But if you don`t like, you can change the values for each sail. So you can change speed, weight, and the angle to get wing for all sails, so you can set it uo whatever you want ^^

Yeah, as Joew explained the mod he linked adds weight with each sail and even if you can add more sails, you probably won't because you'll be more than fast enough with the normal amount. No, it doesn't directly alter the ship crew capacity, but considering you won't need to add any levels into weight, you can put the points towards crew size instead.
Senkoau Jul 14, 2019 @ 1:11am
Oh right I read that as each sail WEIGHS 50k not that it adds 50k. Ok I'll grab that and hope my complete but not launched schooner can benefit from it. Hmmm small handling + medium speed = 100k weight . . . I have a feeling I'll not be putting points into weight any time soon I only wanted an extra 2-3 thousand after levelling up.

Thanks for the explanation.

Might be better for me as I just realized the weight one is spawn in 3 large sails which would be fine for a galleon but not so much for a schooner. Unfortunately to benefit from the advanced schooner you need to buy down the seamanship tree past galleons which is expensive for early game.

Sigh I just want a bit more weight on the ship why can't the dev's give us a slider for that.
