Nishiki: How Do You Feel About Him?

Please keep spoilers(and yes there will be spoilers) contained to only what happens in Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami.

1. As the title states, how do you feel about him? Do you seem him as a sympathetic villain that is worth redemption............or do you think that he's done too much wrong and pain, either directly or by his leadership style, that's permanently soured you on the character?

2. Which wrong, directly or indirectly, by him or those that were in his family ticked you off the most?


For me, regarding question 1, I think it's the latter. I get that he waned to help Yumi, but he left a trail of bodies in his wake that could fill a morgue....and showed very little appreciation for the sacrifice that Kiryu made for him. I'm talking about Kiryu spending 10 years in prison. As far as I can recall, Nishki didn't even visit or write to Kiryu while he was in prison.

As for question 2. it was a tough one between Reina and Shinji.......but ultimately her death ticked me off more. Obviously, it was wrong of her to report Kiryu's ongoings, but she likely had stockholm syndrome. Nishiki hit her at least once, but possibly more, and likely toyed or threatened her over the past 10 years................only for her to be killed on some random abandoned roof by a "nobody" who was in nishiki's family.

1. I think that Nishiki was still worthy of redemption, even though he did majorly messed up. Once things started going wrong for him, he used his yakuza mindset to do what he had to in order to achieve his goals. I wish that he hadn't blown himself up at the end, I really liked him in 0. I feel like him trying to redeem himself after all he had done could have really added some interesting content to his character later on.
2. I have to agree that either the death of Shinji or Reina really got to me. If I had to pick, I would also say Reina though. Although it was never reciprocated, she loved Nishiki and was manipulated into helping him out only to disposed of in the end. Very sad.

OG yakuza 1 - Nishiki is pathetic who basically became evil cuz Yumi didnt like him

Kiwami 1 Nishiki - A tragic story of a man who got his own family, got treated like ♥♥♥♥, didnt get help by kazama, constantly compared to kiryu, did things out of desperation, lost his only surviving family member through a scammy doctor, led down a dark path by his superiors , forced to watch the woman he loved get with a piece of ♥♥♥♥ like jingu

Yeah he definitely was worthy of redemption and was an entirely misunderstood villain, but the fact that he has pieces of ♥♥♥♥ on his team like arase and shindo didnt help either, and reina dying was the worst death in kiwami 1

Nishiki is hard to sympathize with because he had a support system.


If he came to Sera, Kazama, or even kashiwaga about the doctor's offer they would offer to help either financially OR at the very least look into the offer to see if it was legit.

(30 million from 3 high up people? That would have been easy. Plus, they would know it wasn't due to incompetence on Nishiki's part. Kazama would be eager to do it if it were legit).




What stopped Nishiki from reaching out? Ego. He didn't understand when it was appropriate to ask for help from his peers and friends...and thus relied on a scummy subordinate to try and preserve "face".

Kiryu was asking help from people several times throughout the game and nobody looked down on him.

Nishiki tried to go at it alone, away from his supporting cast. Again, because of ego.


Frankly, I'm not even confident that he blew himself up for any other reason but his ego on not wanting jingu to get his way....like he said.

Frankly, Aoki, in Y7, showed true accountability and even remorse after ALSO being motivated by his ego. Nishiki? No such proven scene.

Nishiki is done dirty by everyone around him especially Kazama.

Kazama show blantant favoritsm towards Kiryu and Yumi over Nishiki and his sister. Nishiki's sister is currently on hospital and not even once Kazama ask about her.

Nishiki is climb the rank from subsidiary of Kazama family into top 3 Tojo family in less than 9 years is outstanding achievement but then Kiryu became chairman 3 days after get out from prison because daddy kazama likes him lmao

i always believe had he became chairman Nishiki will bring glory to Tojo. he might be ruthless but he know what had to be done. in contrast Kiryu is the one responsible to start the downfall of Tojo when he chose motherf***ing Terada who is Omi officer plotting for Tojo destruction of all people to become next chairman because Kiryu hated responsibility. and the reason? because Terada happen to close with Daddy kazama lol

yeah i think he worthy of redemption. Nishiki might look evil but what he had done is notthing compared to the villain on the future series had done. some of these villains get redemption. if they can have redemption then sure as hell Nishiki also did deserves it

Kiryu saved Nishiki's life, and Nishiki turned around and betrayed him for it. At that point in time he had no reason to do it but greed.

Nishiki for once took charge of his life and Kiryu robbed him of the consequences. Kiryu is a characterless lame ass Gary Stu whose reason for being is making others look worse and simping for prostitutes.
