I've fought bosses in dark souls in less time than some random group fight in yakuza
Here's a great example of someone clearing the Majima Batting cage fight in a little over 3 minutes while taking no damage on legend difficulty to give you an idea of how quickly you can clear fight if you make use of the tools the game gives you.

You're definitely hitting the nail here, I really don't like the rush style and almost never use it, and that random group heat action would definitely have been useful in that majima fight if I even could unlock it at that time, though I doubt I had it since I didn't have alot of abilities and was pretty much stuck having to do the batting cage fight since random fights give you literally no xp. I probably wouldn't have thought to use it anyway since the guy in the vid used the electric fist which you still take damage from if it connects?
But even if I cleared the group fast, strong enemies in the game just have unfun mechanics especially compared to 0, there is absolutely no reason why an enemy should be able to dodge AND hit you when you try stomping them on the ground for the first time, not even a greedy second stomp, that literally makes no sense, not to mention enemies having instant, extremely low start-up attacks, there is no way you're meant to react dodge which I feel like takes away from the combat because I'm literally just spamming the dodge button waiting for them to attack.
Take Majima for example, his dagger style has that awful cartwheel move I don't think a human could react to that hitbox in time, especially when he does it right on top of you. Even his thug style is very hard to react to.
I admit I was still trying to play kiwami like its yakuza 0 as it was my first playthrough, I didn't think it would be so different considering it literally is the same game but is basically modded to be harder, I've figured out style switching is extremely op and ofc now I tiger drop even though it's very cheesy, but I still stand by my original statement, literally every fight takes forever if you aren't using the strongest moves in the game. Maybe it's meant to be like that but it's definitely true, I'm pretty sure I spent more time in the fight between that red gang with the brothers than Shibusawa's fight in 0.
Sorry for the wall of text
Watch the story for 1 on youtube (its not even that good). 0 was so much better. The bosses in 1 are insanely annoying
Nah you are flat out wrong. It is widely agreed upon that Kiwami 1 has some of the worst combat in the modern series. Just horrible. 0 is 10 x more interesting and fun/less frustrating and thats why the reviews reflect what i am saying

nice bait, is yakuza known for being a hard series or something? it's genuinely not, I even went back to 0 and realized how op everything is. All i said was the enemies have way too much health, and some mechanics are unfun. I've done a sl1 playthrough on dark souls 3 i'm no stranger to fights taking way too long, but that was a self-imposed challenge, this is simply bad design.
so then your argument doesn't apply to me. why even comment then
