Kiryu maj was always better than him.
Maj was much nicer guy in Yakuza 0 he change quite much.
and mind you Nishiki didn't betray Kiryu. he even ask Kiryu to work with him at some point. he and Kiryu only take different path which unfortunately made them clash each other
Nishiki is cryer? lol i think he is the most human character in this game. his only remaining family is on the brink of death. he did anything even go as far lower his head and humiliated by his subordinate and even betray the man he respect the most. all of it for the little hope that his sister might be saved but then the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ doctor scam him. took away the only hope he had. The woman he loved dissapear to god knows where, his best friend are in the jail and then his sister died. anyone on his position will have mental breakdown.
now just look at the end of the story after lost Nishiki, Yumi, and Kazama in span of few hours Kiryu basically in same state as Nishiki. he lost everyone he cared about and pretty much lost the will to live and about to break but the difference is Kiryu still have Haruka that keep him going while Nishiki had no one
This game is a remake of the first title in the series, before they made Majima an anti-hero in 0 or the comic relief in the rest of the games. The parts of the story where he kidnaps Haruka and beats his clan members half to death for petty reasons are part of the original game.
yeah i remember the dog food part being a tad annoying but ah well.
Kiryu didn't leave at the start so the police would take him. Harder to link it to nishki if there was a guy who fought with the dojima family years ago holding a gun in his hand standing over the dead body and admitting it was him.
Nishki didn't betray Kiryu. Well he did, because he betrays their promise in y0 to cross the line of killing someone together, but he isn't actively trying to screw Kiryu in the opening scene. Later, which is what you mean, he betrays Kiryu for all the reasons you saw. He is constantly compared to Kiryu, feels completely inferior to Kiryu, and wants to prove himself.
Dunno what "cryer" is but if you cant take seriously a dude who was being completely obliterated by the weight of running his own family due to being thrust into it by a parent family who didn't really care about him and only saw him as a substitute for Kiryu then idk if you're emotionally old enough to play the Yakuza games.

In yakuza 0 nish crys to much, more than others.
So to prove nish failed he was coward to want to die in the room,despite Kiryu not wanting Him to, What did nish had to gain to die? Or the game makers did not know what to do with Nish in sequel?
Haruka was better character than nish, she risk her life for Kiryu.
He wanted to prove himself better than Kiryu by become Tojo clan chairman. and he will do anything to reach that goal even killing people etc
Nishiki is sensitive person but he had too many bad days in short times. Disrespect from his own family, Kazuma and Kashiwagi blantantly favor Kiryu over him, lost Yumi, get scammed by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Doctor, his sister death, on top of Shimano feed him BS. ironic because Nishiki was there to stop Kiryu from taking wrong path when he almost kill Shibusawa but sadly Kiryu wasn't there for Nishiki when he need him the most
As for Nishiki just kill himself yeah that was pretty stupid because he almost blow Haruka, Kiryu and Yumi to death (well Yumi is still die anyway)
