How do you actually pull off a demonic shadow?

I got the skill but I have no idea how to use it. It doesn't seem to work. It's supposed to let me dodge BEHIND my enemy and then confuse them. But it never actually works no matter how well I time my dodge.

I don't think the skill automatically moves you behind your enemy or is depended on timing at all. It is more accurate to say if you dodge your opponent's attack and end up behind them, the opponent would be confused.

If you're talking about the rush skill you lock on and press circle as they approach, it has the same timing as the fist breaker heat skill. Your character will kind of side step them and elbow them in the back of the head and leave their back open to attack.
