Trouble Finder - how does it work anyway?

What, are substories supposed to be displayed on the map?
Maybe, on the mini-map instead?
Or is it like Majima Sensor / Taihei Blvd Lockbox Key locator, it will start to emit sound when I'm close to the substory start location?

Really struggled to find the answer after visiting like 5 potential links, I'm sipping dumb juice apparently.

Trouble Finder is use to find substories, there are 2 substories that doesnt appear in the map, which can be done by gaining friendship with Rina and Yui
The Lockbox key finder is use to find lockers keys, obviously
same thing to the Card Finder
Majima Sensors is different from other finders, you have to be at 0 Heat gauge so it would activate, if Majima is on the minimap or on the map, u can find him easily, if he's not on both map and the minimap, u have to find a place to trigger the event like the trash can, sewer door, alley, long hallways or poles

Oh my god, I have figured out what was the issue - it only took me to leave Haruka back at Serena and suddenly the map is sprawling with Substory icons. Additionally, I've realised that I haven't met a single Noveau Riche while I was with Haruka...
