is it me or are button mashing QTE's super hard on hard mode?

i've failed almost every button mash qte it seems like they made them way harder than it was in yakuza 0

They are definitely harder; if I get grabbed/knocked down, "rapidly tapping A" does hardly anything no matter the pacing. Tried it even on keyboard (which would be "E" instead of "A") with the same results. Other QTEs aren't nearly as bad for some reason.

Apparently if your framerate is really high (like above 60) it affects the amount you have to mash. I'm not totally sure how you can fix it, maybe turn on vsync if that's an option?

If that's not your problem then I'm not sure, I'm on normal difficulty and it seems fine for me

I'm playing on hard and find it almost impossible to mash out of attacks with a gamepad. I usually drop my controller and rapidly press 'E' on the keyboard and it works sometimes.

i played with a lower framerate and the qte was drastically easier than before, it's so weird that this is a thing that happens lol

It's not weird, some engines are heavily tied to fps
