Big Faced Judo Master One Grab Kills Everytime

I'm assuming this is a bug, but in the arena fight in the sub story I can't escape from his red grab. No amount of mashing is enough. I'm playing the game with the framerate locked at 60 with v-sync enabled.

Weird, I've beat this guy first time on medium difficulty with unlocked framerate. Remember to parry a lot, and remember to try to get BEHIND him, use Brawler and triple left click + right click combo. Sidestep a lot.

Was there any prompt to escape the grab? If I remember correctly that judo guy's grab cannot be escaped from.

You need to dodge it, if it's the move I remember then there's a telltale when he starts to raise his hand.

it says to mash A, but mashing A does nothing.

You're probably mashing A too slowly, that was a problem for me for a little while. IIRC you have a very small window to break free of him.

Yeah, I've got the same problem. I even tried mashing both the E key and the A button on the controller. It's hella bugged, sometimes when I'm grabbed by a random thug the same thing happens.

Yea I have my game on hard even though I mash it at the beginning thug still beats me sometimes a bit frustrating and I have 60 FPS and sync on

I don't know that is going on. I fought with him on hard. He grabs me ones and throws. After this, I mash E and Kiryu got up without issues.

Are you truly playing at 60 FPS? If you have the game set as windowed or borderless then the refresh rate setting will do nothing and you're still actually playing at higher than 60 FPS if your monitor is capable of higher.

Try turning on the FPS display to make absolutely sure.

I still had this bug for a while but I ended up just having to beat him without getting grabbed. I have the game set at 60 frames (went in the graphics.ini and changed the 240 to 60) and he was still able to infinite grapple. Unless they fix it, you'll have to either have a really good fight or not finish the mission.

some of his move can't be canceled because that's the nature of the move, quickstep and hit and the classic advice git gud. the one you can break if he grab you with one hand like kiryu (the button mash prompt will appear). if he grab you with both hand that's inescapable

No, this is a bug. Random thugs can lock you in this move too (I've had a "Street Ruffian" do it) and there's a command given to break out of it that just doesn't work. It's like as if the game isn't listening to the bound input. You just have to wait for the health bar to empty, then restart the fight and hope the AI doesn't do it again.

If this was intentional, it would be an instant death, not 'Sit there for a minute and a half while your health inches down because you're locked out of the menus'.
