Majima seems weird after starting the series with Yakuza 0

I haven't played any of the games other than Yakuza 0 before this, and that game was really effective in making Majima a soulful, intelligent, and sympathetic character. So far in Yakuza Kiwami none of that is coming through; he's more like a Japanese version of Jim Carrey's "The Mask" -- over-the-top wacky comic relief. Kind of miss the more subtle version.

majima is just using a mask .. deep inside he is still the majima you used to know in 0

Yakuza 0 Majima - Yearns for his 24 Cinderella fantasy

Yakuza Kiwami Majima - Will live out the 24-hour Cinderella fantasy, force the Majima family to be his backup dancers, and drag Kiryu into it.

I kinda feel sorry for Nishida (Majima's subordinate / straight man). I suspect he wears that construction helmet all the time (his character profile on the RGG Studio site literally calls it his trademark) as necessary for survival when being around an unpredictable guy with a habit of swinging a baseball bat around wildly.

OP here is the truth behind whole thing others in this thread fail to realize.
While in originals Majima is different from how he was portrayed in Zero, hes still different from original games in Kiwami.
And the reason for that is that Kiwami is remake of 1st game, but remake done the way like in those stalker mods where author puts his favorite animu waifu posters all over the place, makes recoil to move guns downwards instead of upwards and other strange ♥♥♥♥ like that.
And also zero didnt actually try to be the prequel and connect to events of 1st game. Yakuza 4 has more insight on Majima backstory than 0.
