The game deviates from the plot of the anime, so it can fit into the Yakuza series structure.

Its also running on the Yakuza 0/Kiwami engine, so it'd probably be the easiest to port next.

Having cleared the main campaign and having done a casual but healthy portion of the side content, I can vouch that it is.

While its tiedwith Yakuza Kiwami at the bottom of my current game ranking (only played 4 of them so far), all of them are playing on a fairly high bar.

My ranking list (for context)
1st.) Yakuza 0
2nd.) Yakuza Kiwami 2
3rd.) Yakuza Kiwami/Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise

I heard it was running on the last gen engine, this is basically a PS3 game (released on PS4).

I'm not saying I don't WANT it, it's one of like, two reasons I'm even remotely disappointed I don't have a PS4. Gimmie.

Yakuza 0 released on PS3 in Japan, and its using that engine.

Technically, yeah, Hokuto ga Gotoku a.k.a. Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, along with Yakuza Zero & Yakuza Kiwami, uses an engine originally developed 2011-12 for the 5th main series game on PS3 -- but having played Yakuza 5 & the PS4 versions of Ishin, Zero and Kiwami, that engine is seriously pushing the hardware limits of the PS3 (visual artifacts, aliasing, framerate drops, really jarring pop-in on character models).

Short version is, (a) when that Fist of the North Star game started development the current-gen Dragon Engine was still rather rough round the edges, the toolset / documentation were still being worked on, and the team making it included a number of new (to the studio) people, (b) the older system made it easier to do the cell-shaded / anime aesthetic they wanted as well as maintaining a higher framerate.

I hope we will get eventually everything that RGG Studio ever made.

game looked gorgeous artistically speaking.

Right, it should be noted the Dragon Engine does not do 60fps on PS4, so the older engine is a blessing.

If we're going to follow the pattern 0 and Kiwami have went through, the other Yakuza games will be ported about 1 year and 6 months after their western PS4 releases. By that reasoning, the next Yakuza game will be 6, coming in October 2019, then Kiwami 2 in February 2020, and finally Lost Paradise in April 2020. Sega really, REALLY loves their old ports. It's almost like a fetish to them, like what feet are to Tarantino movies...
