Like a Dragon: Prologue.

Thought I'd throw this in here. Before the somewhat messy Takeshi Miike movie tenuously based on the main plot of the first Yakuza game, Sega had a 40-minute straight-to-video live action feature made, Ryû ga Gotoku ~Joshô~ (Like a Dragon: Prologue) which besides adapting key events of the game's prologue gives some extended backstory on Kiryu, Nishiki, Yumi et al.

Yeah the Miike movie was a rollercoaster ride.
I feel that Like a Dragon Prologue is genuinely well done though, even if it also doesn't follow the games entirely, it does it well enough and invokes some genuine emotions too

It's a sweet film, though the ring part might be contradictory to Kiwami's extended 1st chapter.

The ring got overlooked indeed. I think this is in netflix asia in good quality.
