4- look better, SW4 and DW8 rosters
Gameplay is hard to judge so watch a video and decide for yourselves.
Just remember that WO3 gameplay is like SW3/DW7, WO4 is SW4-2/DW8
You have hyper attacks, magic, in WO4
And of course, Online co-op
the only way to look at these two is 3 counts as the older generation consoles, and 4 is the next gen up from that
thats all there is too it, they are both good games.
Unlike 4, it is also the complete package, containing everything inside a single purchase. 4 is being overmonetized to hell, expensive as hell and is less challenging than 3, leaving much to be desired. 3 also passes the test of time, with flying colors at that, which is saying a lot for a warriors game!
I like both but if I had to pick just one, I'd go with 3 just because of cost.
4 has superior graphics, magic super-movesets, smoother gameplay with some additional QoL (like target lock-on), updated and decloned movesets and some new characters not in 3, but the magic system is so powerful it makes regular movesets feel weak and redundant, the DLC situation is absolutely horrible, missions have worse dialog and your character doesn't really interact with anything, the story overall is weaker and the extra Infinity mode is worse. Also musou attacks are garbage and basically superseded by magic in every way. The team magic blast attack from Sonic Heroes is your bread and butter to nuke anything and you will see that stupid animation every single mission multiple times
3 has more satisfying gameplay because you don't have magic, just your character's moveset, your actual attacks feel better and deal real damage, musou attacks are powerful like they should be, Gauntlet mode is interesting, you have extra modes like custom missions, the card game (?) and a fighting game (???), there's quite a few alternate outcomes and events for many missions which can unlock new side-missions, a more interesting story, much more interaction involving your character in missions, lots of extra little dialogs unique to many different characters depending on who you play as, a little camp hub area you can walk around and talk to characters in instead of just menus and portraits, and lastly it includes all DLC, so you have truckloads more side-missions and costumes you unlock through playing which makes it more satisfying overall. Also the intro cinematic with the hydra's shadow looming over people before a sudden cut to black with white text is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scary and I find the time-travel premise a lot more interesting than 4, plus it makes a lot more sense as a videogame
Visually WO4 is way better, with a few characters that I personally think, could be a bit better. There is also a lack of unlockable outfits/skin/models, what is just DLC.
Gameplay is improved for me. Characters have their skills system that make them better at something, instead of having accessories. Aside of the super power, musou, you can also have magic attacks, that are based on a item of your choice. You can have a more powerful musou without the need to be at lower HP.
There is benefits by making teams with a combination of characters.
The Gauntlet Mode from WO3 was improved as Infinity Mode. Before you could fast level up and craft the top tear weapon, now require a bit more of work before unlocking the good ways to do that. Levels are more interesting with the variation of objectives.
You get to choose how the AI behave without the need to choose layouts, although there isn't much point of doing that, as the AI is not the smart. I mean, you set them to attack, but they can't keep up and don't seem that get the benefits of your weapon build. You set them to explore, and they keep getting hurt, or don't uncover map as fast as they did in WO3. You set them to recover, what is just make them stand still regen HP and musou, what I find wasteful.
I think most of the complains is before the Ultimate additions.
