You can't just make an RTS...
... that basically has no tech tree/research progression and expect it to be fun. Even Dawn of War 2, that was much smaller in scale, had so much more depth and fun decision making while you had only one building available.

Sorry, but having cool look and setting just isn't enough.

Instead they half bake it to appear like a CoH esq RTS but bare boned. I truly hope this game gets a big update bc I see a ton of potential for it. I miss good RTS games man. It takes one good one to revive it again.

Yeah, nothing compares to a lot of good old classic RTS titles.

The reason for there being no tech tree/research tree, hardcap limits, or over simplified game mechanics is because this game is being sold on potato consoles as well.

Yeah I agree with OP. It's not about trying to turn IH into a copycat of a another game but neither should it be the other extreme which is to throw out everything that made previous games good just to be "different". Every game in the genre has lessons to offer in design and execution. Such lessons are for the most part applicable to all others within the genre, not just one particular game. It is silly to ignore the quality of life features and even essential content/mechanics that were created as a result of learning from aforementioned lessons. You don't go back reinventing the wheel.

So is Ancestors Legacy and Northgard, both having much more variety and depth despite having even less units.

But dude locking defense bunkers behind a unit skill (cause as we know engineers are the main combat units) is so much fun! Wow! and to make 90% of the campaign a chore as its ultra easy as it teaches you the same basics over and over only then to be ultra hard is totally exciting!

This game is in the early stages for mp, so I hope, they will bring more depht to that game.

for me its feels that COH2 (which is almost 8 yrs old now ?!) has much more depth and better graphics than IH.
Honestly i was pretty excited about IH, now only feels disappointed. Would take to long to list all missing things here.. also cannot imagine that devs can bring this game on a same level COH franchise was /is...

Yeah, the worst thing is that the potential is there, but the devs seem to be very stubborn on keeping the game simplistic and console friendly.

That just irritates the living ♥♥♥♥ out of me. RTS is way more popular on pc. If they would just devote to the pc..a solid game with DEPTH then they would have full wallets. ♥♥♥♥ makes no sense.

I think it would be cool to just be able to research upgrades at the HQ.

Dawn of war 2 had NO research or tech tree. It operated exactly like this one. Go up a techlevel, unlock everything immediatly once you do.

This one plays exactly like Dawn of war 2 Mp does

Don't have to have a tech tree to have strategy.
