Its happened before in many games.

From the roughly 50+ anime games I played not a single one has had a patch to re-add censored content, would you be able to give a few example of a game on steam being uncensored through a patch? Dev created patches don't count.

You can find it for Criminal Girls, Atelier Sophie, Blue Reflection, Hyper Neptunia U, Shadowverse, Tokyo Xanadu, Trails of Cold Steel, Valkyrie Drive, TERA and Hyper Universe among those I know.

The only content being cut in Blue Reflection is camera lock during Preview room cmiiw.

Can you explain 1 by 1 please?
I have no idea some of the game i bought have content being cut.

And i really doubt IFI have one of those problems...
They never was aside from mediocre port.. i guess?

So i try some research
Xanadu Ex doesn't have any content being cut, unless you can prove me the otherwise

Nothing in Neptunia U being cut. Aside from box change.

Blue Reflection only Censorship was ability to toggle camera during Preview room. It's still not fine.

Criminal girl is indeed censored,There's a rant about it.
But there's community mod. Salute for them

Valkyrie drive is indeed censored. But i am not sure about PC version. It said being uncut and some country have to ban it away from steam.
[I'll do some checking]
Edit : The only censor is Age.
Well that's playing safe.

I don't think there's Censorship in Cold Steel

I don't know about Tera and Hyper Universe, these game is are free to play.

Again PC is the only platform where we can be free from Censorship as it being a Global Market.
So please protect what it always been,
Sony Censorship will eventually trigger all kind of concern from developer to "Censor" these anime games. They'll back out despite no one asking them to censor it for PC version.

I was just going through my uncensor folder. I believe most of those "not known censorship" were all camera angle unlocks. Potentially they had always had locks, and this was more of a "lewd" mod than restore, I just know I ran into those download links once and saved them.

TERA censored dozens of Elin outfits at the game's launch, but they stopped doing that over time when they realised that Elin players were where all their profits were coming from. Hyper Universe made changes to dozens of outfits and removed the breast physics in the western release, and they then imposed the same changes on the Korean release too.

I have no idea what he's talking about with Atelier Sophie.

Good news, ladies and gentlemen, the ALLZ archive format will apparently soon be supported by QuickBMS, thanks to work on another game that uses it. What this means is that it will likely soon be possible to extract (and potentially repack) the game's content.

Awesome! Let's hope it's possible

The only bad news is that it might be necessary to manually split the files to get separate ALLZ archives... Considering there are 257 DAT files and at least one archive per file, it might be a painful process. And that's not even considering the possibility to encounter archives within archives...

How does unpack and repack help adding console data though? Or is it some kind of weird situation where PC and PS games use the exact same binaries so you can just swap them around?

Checking the files is the first step, since there's a chance the cut content is still in the game's files, just unused. Even if said assets and scripts aren't there, the PC and PS4 versions must be pretty close on the technical side of things, so it should still be possible to adapt them easily from the original console version (assuming some people have already datamined it).

Repacking is just to inject modified scripts (and the assets, if required) to bring back the removed content, since it looks like the game relies a lot on Lua scripts.

It's not over yet. The cut content might not be there at all, which might complicate things further. But it's a good first step towards modding the game.

While I'm not a fan of censoring in general, the actual cut content is extremely minor, as it's effectively just a variation of an existing scene with no real new content. Hardly game-breaking stuff.
