Can this be played solo?

Hello folks! Uh, yeah! The title covers it, basically.

Is there any way this can be played solo, within reason?
Or do you absolutely have to play with others?

you can play it solo, but the bot companions are very bad with ranged weapons. they are doing fine, if they have a melee loadout, but the healer bot can't heal then. the campaign is okay for the reduced price and there are semi-random missions on the campaign maps as an additional game mode, but the best experience is imo coop with other players.

Single player can be worth it for learning the maps and savoring the atmosphere since you can just soak the environments at your own pace, which is one of the things they nailed in this game.

I must say I was surprised how short the single player campaign turned out to be.

if you do it on difficulty 3 or 4 out of 4 and do it tactically, aka, closing doors, cutting of the enemies ways , collecting all the relics, it's about 40 to 60 minutes per map
there are 9 maps...
so it's about an 8 hour game if you know what you do.
if you have no idea what to do and where stuff it, it takes longer.

It can be played solo, but why would you do this to yourself? You can see the whole story in coop with up to 3 other dudes. The AI in solo is pretty ass. Even a bad teammate will do a better job. I suggest finding 1 or 3 other cool dude and do the whole story with them. Thats how i best enjoyed the game. About the soloing part, yes you can do the campaign alone. Give the assault dude a war hammer and a shield, and always tell them what to do. Its part of the solo experience. If you let them do what they want, you'll probably get killed because they are dumb as rocks.
