A different story is playing on Hard or NM, where things are almost impossible once you reach 3rd level and stealth enemies appear, wiping out your allies in a single shot (including you as well, ofc).
Remember that you can ask to brother Nahum to heal yourself. And if you run out of medikits and/or your brothers have fallen, you can still use a psygate to resupply and "revive" your allies.
If you want some help, just ask.
So if you are having trouble with the campaign, on normal, then the likely reason is you specced your librarian wrong. Other possibles are:
1. Going to specific areas on the map. Some areas have worse spawn rates than others. Usually in areas with optional relics, that don't actually make you more powerful.
2. Not closing and locking doors.
3. Not running when it is time to run.
Lastly, I feel like exploring this game is one of the best parts. Granted I feel like Ripley in the Sulacco the entire time, but I just want to find all the little lore bits. I know they aren't even close to cannon, but I only bought this game in the first place because I love the lore, not for the twitchy LFD-esque frantic shooting.
Can you post a guide for the Psyker build you are talking about?
Thank you for your advice.
Also, doors are LOCKED, I am obsessively locking doors, even on the wrong side sometimes....
I agree that exploring is the best part. Even if the rewards for exploring tend to be poor and involve things that want to get into your armor suits and steal your jeans :P
If you are on map 2, then other thoughts, that may assist you:
- Equip your heavy weapons dude with the assault cannon. If you use the AC, its unaccurate as high hell 20 meters away. If they use it, they are pinpoint accurate 400 meters away. Its honestly the best weapon to give them, until you unlock the thunder hammer or plasma cannon.
- Make sure your apothecary has their narcecium equipped. Yeah, you could give them extra dps instead, but without healing, they aren't super useful.
- Despite what pre-release says, having armor in all red is not actually a bad thing. I also don't know if the system is in where if the arm goes black, if they can't use that arm. Only when the chest or head goes black, is when they die. So, usually let them go red before healing them. If memory serves, there are keyboard shortcuts for the apothecary to heal themself, heal you, or heal the heavy weapons dude.
- Finding enough relics on the floor gives you an extra psygate. It says you gain willpower, but I've never seen a gameplay benefit, other than unlock psygates. I believe it takes 3 relics to get a psygate.
- Psygates can be useful for changing out gear, changing out your psycasts, refilling the apothecary's heal count, reviving allies, and fully healing everyone in the group (without using heals). So, I suggest using your psygates periodically, as you go about the floor.
- Although allies are a bit stupid, they can be ordered to do simple tasks, such as opening or locking doors. Or ordering your allies to stay in place, while you go forward, attract the horde, and run back to them.
- Although turrets getting obliterated by hybrid weapons easily, they do make short work of genestealers too. Many areas have turrets, so hacking them can help.
- Many areas have multiple ways you can enter them. Some paths are more likely to kill you over others. If you are finding that resistance is too high, backtrack, and try getting at the area in another direction.
- If you go psycasts, equip the power sword. It severely reduces cooldowns by like roughly 50%. Once you have the power axe, it reduces it to like 67%. So if lightning normally takes 30 seconds to reuse, with the power sword it takes roughly 15 seconds. The early psycasts are best used up close and personal, while the late game psycasts are best used from afar.
- There is a "scope" function that can be used to make the bolter pistol much more accurate, especially at a distance. Very useful for eliminating hybrids from afar, where you can dodge their rockets.
- The game rewards slow, methodological gameplay. You can't sprint that much, so trying to pick and choose your battles is the best way to succeed. Some objectives do require more aggression though, which the game punishes you severely for, but what choice do you have. Sometimes it is best to play the map once, without any expectation of succeeding, to just figure out the layout of the map, and then succeed the second time around.
- If you don't want to wait to unlock a door, you can bash it down with melee attacks. Can be useful if you lock a door, thinking it will stem the horde, for them to just spawn in front of you instead and now your escape route is blocked off.
- Frequently checking behind your back every 2-3 seconds, can help to avoid getting ass raped by a kamikaze or assassin genestealer. In most games this would be called paranoia. In this game its called life insurance.
- Starting in map 2, there are secret passages. Many of these contain relics, but can be used to quickly deal with a particular area of the map, once you've uncovered them. Effectively shortcuts or great places to hide in as there are no genestealer spawn points in them.
For the psyker build, I dump all my points into the psyker tree. After that tree is filled, I put them into the melee? tree (the one that gives points towards thunder hammer). You will of course always want a power sword or axe out, so that limits build options, but the melee tree has extra benefits for the psyker build, once you have all the psyker unlocks.
Hope some of this helps.
If you pay attention to and learn it's signals you will know where, what and the range.
I spend more time looking at this than anything else. Usually to glance at where team mates are and to line up shots.
Maybe the tracker has been improved then? The last time I played the campaign was 2017; I tried the game briefly again when Enhanced Edition came out, but most of the issues I had with the original campaign, were not fixed.
i can just give you a few tips
this game is not about how much enemys you kill speaking about killing when you can shoot the head do it does even drop warriors relatively fast with standart sbolter
be always in motion think of your terminatior like a boxer use your arms to block damage broken arms and legs no problem broken chest or head dead
you can even block with your arms while not blocking (sounds weird right?) just turn your side to enemy attacks if there is no time for anthing else
know your enemy when stalkers are nearby the radar gets blurred as long as they are cloaked
for psykers im not 100% sure but when they are nearby my armor in hud always starts to flicker (needs confirmation) best is to kill them on sight with a headshot
but actually for all these little hybrid scum there is a very good tactic that just needs a bit patience when you spot some shoot at them then go behind a corner and let them come
make a lot use of your meele attack in my opinion the best one hand meele weapon is the power fist with speed mod when you get swarmed use meele
specially for stalkers if you cant avoid the jump attack with a sidestep wich is the optimum start a meele attack that often interrupts their attack if you do it early enough
manage your stamina wisely thats actually not the least impotant thing trust me many die because in the wrong moment out of stamina
there are a truckload of more tips but these are the most important in my opinion
for single player as i said as soon as you get the shield for you heavy bot things get much better
good luck
