...and then how much are you willing to pay?
I am in the UK so 16 USD equates to £12-£13 which i think for a game i want to experience is good value - think cinema ticket for 2-3 hours enjoyment, a couple of Sky movies etc...
So do you like the idea of a bit of mindless slaughter set in a Space Hulk then in single player you will get a good 9 hours out of the game, more if you really want to explore the maps or start out on a easy level and then run through on harder levels etc...and the story is not half bad and glues the maps together nicely... you will get frustrated with the AI....you will learn where the spawn points are... but imho not before you have had your monies worth
and if you can get online then the multiplayer experience is a whole lot of fun, sure the 'game play' is limited and repetitive but it is certainly fun initially. Get a tight squad together and you can have some very memorable 'gaming' moments
If you like Space Hulk or just have a liking for the Warhammer 40k universe then i think you will get this game and think at 16$ it is a bargain
If you like FPS games and have no previous history in WH40k then maybe you will not it get it so much but look at some of the uTube vids and these will help you decide ...
Edit: I also forgot to mention the low population and region-locked lobby system. However, I'm from the Balkans and just had three different runs, each time with a completely different team. Dunno if it's because it's Saturday today or the sale has boosted the player numbers temporarily (although only 2 of the guys I played with were under level 10). Make up of this what you will, but the low population doesn't mean you can't find a team. Make your own lobby and people are bound to come.
So MP is still working (even though player numbers are very low) and it is way better than singleplayer with its dumb braindead bots.
It doesn't really hold any replay ability as the story more than the gameplay is what pulls it together, so once you have played through once, you may find it hard to go back.
Is it worth it solo? I think so, the campaign is okay and it is narrated by Jonathan Keeble (he voices a lot of the black library audiobooks), which is a nice touch but in the actual levels your terminator bots don't have any character and the game comes down to constant fire fights which can get boring.
Better melee mechanics and more voice work for the terminators on a par with Vermintide would have been great. Just listening to the 40k audio dramas and audiobooks will show you how good that could have been.
The special missions are okay, they have random elements that can add some replay value.
The whole package is just okay, well worth it on a sale though. Until a better Space Hulk FPS game comes along, this one will do. It certainly looks the part, but everything else doesn't come together to make it compelling.
For me, a 40k fan and owner of all the previous space hulk computer games, it's a huge dissapointment.
Despite having some of the best looking 40k levels out there, it completely failed to draw me in. I found previous sh games far more engaging.
The story was poor, AI teammates constantly piss you off, and it's just terribly lackluster.
Some like it, but the poor sales and the fact there is less than 90 players in average shows its total lack of replayability and faults.
But if you can cope with this, you may get some enjoyment. But after a while you're going to realise that success is down to chance rather than any strategic thought process. Which is a slur on the core ideals of SPACE HULK from the off. (Even with dodgy dice rolls lol)...
USD would be have the dollar sign placed before the amount, CAD is placed after. It would be about £9.19
