Alternatively, if your teammate is a tactical or chaplain class they can resurrect you right next to them if their resurrection ability isn’t on cool down.
Remember hte 250sec cooldown time is only for non Codex games. try playing in Codex mode.
Also any mission you do gives you XP, success or no.
Stay in it. My brother and I can do No Mercy mode missions just the two of us now and have a pretty good chance of success every time. Now, when we turn on FF thats a different story, as he loves him some heavy plasma.

Codex ON/OFF is set before you launch the hosted game. It is under the password field as a on/off tick box along with Friendly Fire on/off
Unfortunately you have to set it here before launching the game - although i think if you start the game with it on you can switch if off in the lobby screen - just not the other way around?!?!
As for positioning, Your right handed with your weapons, So your going to stand on the left side of your teammates if going down a corridors to bring all guns to bare, Also when moving with two players, Always keep an eye on your rear and flanks as assassins can just come out of no where and end you.
Loadouts help so much, Depending on what you or your friend are running i can offer advice that could make things easier but if you don't have a lot of upgrades then you'll have to make due with what you can suppliment.
