Just because :)
The levels are just... oozing with character and history. Each map is a different hulk, part of the greater amalgamation; a sprawling maze with its own texture work and assets.
The singleplayer campaign is fun, but perhaps a bit lacking in the story department. When you've completed that, you can play through any of the maps with randomised objectives, gaining xp which you can use to unlock stuff for use in both single and multiplayer.
The multiplayer is just fundamentally fun; it's not the most intelligent or complex, though it is pretty tactical, especially on higher difficulties. But there's nothing quite like standing beside your teammates in a darkened hallway, as the shrieking enemy comes pouring out of the walls and vents....
At the current sale price, you really can't go far wrong. The only prohibitive issue would probably be performance (it's still not the best optimized, though the Enhanced Edition is waaay better than the original release). But if you can get through the first map with tolerable performance, you'll be fine for the rest of the game (the first map has one of the most graphically intensive fights - involving a finale in a big open area).
Hmm, that's one of my biggest concerns. I'll maybe have a look at closer to peak time tomorrow. It is fairly late.
Thanks to everyone who's responded so far.
Is that a game breaking bug?
Let me think abou..yes.
My wife has no problems, a friend we gifted today neither, a second friend we gifted aswell had it twice but he solved it unplugging his keyboard ingame and connecting it again, my son .....will test it out tomorow, fresh installed but not played yet.
So what i can say, so far 4 ppls played this game, 2 have problems, 2 have no problems.
A sad result, isnt it?
having said that I don't have friends to play this with as most of my actual friends are on Playstation and some on Xbox.
If that works i dont see a problem to invite strangers (like u), all together we r 6 players, the youngest is my son (15), the rest mid 20', 30' and 40' ...old bunch of even older farts ;)
Have a look at steam charts, that tells the full story. You can see the player drop off, which has been monumental.
If you want to play MP, and don't have friends on this, seriously, don't bother. There's 2 threads on here saying there's no/few games available, only locked games.
They also added a region lock, so unless you go direct to a game (via a friend or start one and invite them), you can only see 'servers' for your region.
Most people who were interested in the game got it before Enhanced Ed showed up and had their share of mayhem, yet, often got bored because GAMES LIKE THESE GET BORING AFTER A WHILE. It's a type of game You play from time to time with friends, switching from other Coop shooters - and then You have a blast and ask "so, same time next week?".
Plenty of people saw most of what there was to saw, had their share of great battles and fun and weren't all that interested in grinding for upgrades and cosmetics. It's a decent system... but mostly aimed at new players. As a small studio they didn't had enough peeps to pump out new missions and maps fast enough, much like in EYE Divine Cybermancy - and while that's a shame, it's a very solid game for an indie studio that tried to deliver an AAA title.
And IMO, they made it. They delivered. Despite not being perfect, the game is IMO great, just not for everyone (hardcore* \ setting \ repetitive), but it's exactly what the game was supposed to be.
*a type of "positively exhausting" game.
So OP - find some bois around the forum to play with or bring your own.
You won't be disappointed.
Tbh, that was the reason why i bought it (and told my friends the same), brain off, guns on.
I have so much games with deep content and things u have to watch for to play it in the best possible way... sometimes its just fun to switch the brain off and let ur weapons speak for u.
Depending on this i fully agree.
From an EU player's perspective, with people constantly joining from different continents who aren't on my friends list, I can't disagree more.
Everytime I start a game, I have at least 1 person joining by the time I've finished loading into the mission, and before I've reached the first objective I almost always have a full team. This is true even during daytime (speaking as someone who just had a game fill up within a minute on a weekday morning).
I can't speak to whether the core gameplay clicks with you, but in terms of finding games, I've never had a problem.
